first let me say I was a pet owner most of my life......loss my wonderful dog just prior to moving to TV. However, I agree dogs should be curbed. Unfortunately, not ever one does the right thing..I know some do clean up after their dog but the majority do not. Live on a small street with and half my neighbors have dogs. Most go unleashed constantly and are doing whatever on their neighbor lawns. My ??? why do owners never take their dogs to do their business on THEIR lawns????? Wouldn't that seem reasonable?

I have a question, and excuse me if this has been asked before.(I've searched the forum but way to many to look thru.)We are interested in a fenced yard, CYV or ranch on Nash Loop w fence. We have a small dog, are these neighborhood overly noisy w barking dogs? Smelly due to owners not picking up timely after their dogs? etc. Thanks.

I currently live in a Courtyard Villa community. Great set up for dogs. The neighbourhood is lovely. No barking dogs. No smells. Everyone picks up after their dogs. In three years I've never, ever seen anyone that doesn't pick up after their dog. And most people in CYVs really like animals.

Plus the dogs can run free in the courtyards. I also take my dogs daily to the private dog park so they can get lots of exercise and play with other dogs.

Common areas are owned by all of us! I have owned dogs for 40 years. They poop and pee in MY yard. Not some "common" area. I suppose then you pick up the poop and put it into a common trash can next to the common mailboxes so that the common people coming there get to smell the common smell.
They have dog parks for dogs. Or let them mess up your own yard and flush the poop. Not My common area!

Saying you can't keep your dog from urinating on your neighbor's lawn is a cop out. Keep the leash SHORT and problem solved. My only complaint since I moved here is the number of my neighbors who think it's OK to let their dogs relieve themselves on my front lawn. I spend a lot of time and money to make our grass look nice and green and weed-free. Dog urine causes YELLOW BURN SPOTS on the lawn! I own a large dog and he only uses our BACK yard as his toilet...and the grass back there is mostly dead. I would not dream of allowing him to kill a neighbor's grass, so why do you less-responsible dog owners think it's OK for your dog to kill MY grass?? If you walk them because you don't want them killing the grass in YOUR lawn, why do you think it's OK for them to destroy mine?? Sorry for the rant, but this really, really bugs me. I find these less-thoughtful dog owners to be ignorant, arrogant and rude!

I back up to Villas. The share a wall with a CYV. I have never had any issue with smell , but there are dogs that bark. It simply makes sense that barking would be more prevalent in a CYV as dogs can be outside unattended.

As an example, there is a dog near us that possibly is trained (or spoiled ) to bark when it wants to come in. This can be an issue when it is 5:30 AM or when the owner cannot get to the door for 5 minutes as you sit on the lanai. For us it is not that big an deal and very infrequent, but could be if you happen to live near someone that does not view this an an issue for the neighbors.

I suppose this could also happen when dogs(s) are left on lanai like a certain green at Tierra Del Sol

It is like so many threads that occasionally come up here, loud music, lights that shine on neighbors home, etc. It does not happen often and if you are unlucky enough to move next to someone that may appear a bit inconsiderate, you hope it can be dealt with a civil and friendly manner.

BTW, we love the idea of a CYV for the dog and almost bought one, my post should in no way keep you from buying a CYV.

Last Saturday, I saw a guy on Legacy Lane with his dog. The dog leash was loooooooooong. The guy was standing on the street by the curb. The dog was squatting in the middle of sombody's front yard, 30 feet away from the owner.

When the dog was done, the guy just walked away.

I know the guy and the dog and the people whose lawn he was on. This dog snarls at me (and every other stranger) and stretches out the leash every time I walk close to him and the owner. The guy never, ever, ever tries to pull the dog back or stop the snarling.

I could just smack the owner.

I know the feeling, guy in amelia the same way.big boxer dog. one night he let it out on long leash,I was in the driveway and he did not see me, almost kicked the dog in the face. owner got real smart with me,but ended with him walking away. from that point on he always walked his dog away from me. real jerk.

I live in Caroline and there are two dog owners that live in my neighborhood who not only let their dog relieve themselves on the lawns but the owners also smoke. They both just throw their finished cigarette butts (with filters) into the street or onto the nearest lawn. I intend to follow them to their house while collecting their butts and dumping them on their doorstep. Maybe they will get the hint.

My turn to vent.............There should be a special assessment for dog owners that congregate at mail facilities as if it is a doggy play area. Lots of dead grass (recently replaced) and plants (also replaced). Unfortunately all of us cover the replacement of dead sod and plants through our ever rising fees. Have had kids, dogs and cats all of our lives and have treated public areas and private lawns with respect. Pets are like children, they know what they are taught and reflect the owners attitudes.

Where do you get this crazy idea? The property is in fact mine, it just has a restriction of usage. I'm assessed for the value of and pay the taxes on this property and I have to maintain this property; therefore it is my private property and I would appreciate it if you refrained from allowing your animal to use it as a latrine.

If there IS "a utility right-of-way easement" this is an easement for 'UTILITY' people ONLY and NOT for dogs doing their business on anyone's lawn other than the dog-owner's property. Walk your dog on the street AFTER he/she has done their business ON YOUR PROPERTY!!! Walk around your property a few times if need be, to make sure the job is done on your turf!

I've heard that some dog owners dump their dog doo in the storm drains on the street!!!! DISGUSTING!!!
