Thumbs up Tri-County Automotive

We had work done on our car @ Tri-County Automotive located on 441 by Lowe's. They were excellent to deal with and called us prior to continuing on with the job once they found the problem. Highly recommend them!

We use Hansons. It is on 441/27 right where it cuts off to the keft.

Sir, if I remember correctly I told you that there was a TSB for that code and there is where I would have to start. I also remember that $3000 would be a worst case scenario. Now correct me if I am wrong but I do believe I gave you a copy of theTSB that I told you about and explained the procedure to you. I also requested some information from you about what was replaced, and you would not even tell me what they did. Am I perfect, no, do I make mistakes, yes, do I stand behind my diagnosis, yes, to the point that I needed time to preform the full diagnostic procedure. FYI I use technical hotlines before I spend that kind of money. I cannot afford to make a $3000 mistake, because if I do I eat it, not my customer.

I am sorry that you will not use my services again, and I am willing to refund the diagnostic charges, but to be fair you never came back and allowed for the full diagnostics to be done.

Understand that I would like to know what the repair was so that I can learn and use that information for future use, as that is how we learn and grow in our business.

I stopped in there about 2 years ago because my A/C was not putting out max cold air. They took the car in the back and after a few minutes the "mechanic" appeared from the back with a serious look on his face to inform me that my whole A/C system was "shot" and would require replacement. The service writer wrote up an estimate for around $2200... BUT, he suggested I try just recharging the system for around $79 first to see if that worked, which I did.

Here I am a couple of years later and the A/C is still working great! Guess the "mechanic" needed a refresher course on A/C diagnostics. If you're not mechanically savvy I would watch out here.

That is a nice testimonial and reinforces my positive opinion of Michael. Thanks for sharing. We better be careful though or we may not be able to get an appointment if folks figure out how good he is

We have only been here three weeks and have had a flat tire (large nail) and a heat shield that became loose. The flat tire was fixed by the Tire Center in Colony, no charge although the did try to tell us we had no rear brakes (we took the car for a complete inspection prior to moving).

The second issue we took to Sumter Tire and Auto in Wildwood. They fixed the heat shield, no charge. This place has had recommendations on TOTV and that is why we tried them.

Default Follow Up

Had my car towed to Tri County Automotive. They were terrific and it was just a matter of putting in a higher grade oil. I was expecting big bucks to fix it. That's exactly what it would have been at the dealer's.

Very good to deal with and would recommend them anytime. They will get whatever work I have to have done from now on.

The best and very very honest.....We were quoted $2500 at Mercedes Gainesville, $1500 at Auto Master in Leesburg, to fix a window, Accu-tech fixed it for $100....Such a relief to know that there are honest mechanics...Thank you Accu-tech...

I read thru a lot of what everyone had to say, but didn't see any reference to the Goodyear shop. We have been using their services up in MN for many years, going thru several vehicles as well, and am interested in trying them out when we become more full-time. Is this a case of "no news is good news?"

You may have missed several comments about the Goodyear shop. I recall posting one about our flat tire repair experience. Goodyear, just like Tire Choice is notorious for finding additional work that your vehicle may not really need. I agree there is a fine line behind a mechanic being proactive and upselling. We used them that one time. Replacing air filters and cabin filters was pushing it for us. Of course they come out with some dirty filter but who knows if it came from your car. We usually beg off the "upsell" with "it's a lease and we're giving it back soon." That usually ends the "upsell" discussion. There's no shortage of honest auto mechanics in the area but you'll have to decide this for yourself. In our opinion a legitimate mechanic is usually so busy that they don't want or need questionable work. We've had very good experience with Hutson Automotive Repair on 441 in Fruitland Park. For flat tire repairs, we've been using Tire Roundup on 441 in Lady Lake.

I am the general manager of the AAMCO Transmissions Center across from Walmart on hwy 27-441. I feel your pain. I have seen these types of situations before. There are many different possibilities for this particular situation. While I do not see any reason for having to disconnect the battery to change tires and do an alignment it is not outside the realm of possibilities. Technology is constantly changing and new alignment machines are constantly being created so it is always possible but doubtful that they may had to of disconnected your battery which is why your clock was showing the incorrect time. The gas gauge is generally the fuel level sensor or a bad ground and hardly ever the gauge itself. It’s possible that wiring could have gotten pulled on or something damaged while it was in the air but these sensors do go over time. The best way to handle these types of situations is to immediately go back to the repair center like you said.
All that being said, we have found that the best way to keep these problems from happening is to perform a FREE overall inspection of the vehicle on every vehicle that comes in. This helps in several ways. It helps find problems before they happen or potentially get worse, it helps us in order to have a list of the issues found at that time in case the customer wants to come back later to have the repairs done, it helps the customer to know what all is wrong with their car at that time to protect them from your particular situation and most of all since we sell transmissions it helps the customer to know what overall condition their vehicle is in before making a major purchase. The last type of situation that you want to get into is one where you just spent $1500 rebuilding your transmission only to find a couple weeks later that you had a blown head gasket and now have to spend an additional $1500 on a vehicle that was not worth it to begin with.
