We have used Floormaster in the past and have been extremely satisfied. They even sent us a $50. Gift certificate to bonefish for being such good customers. However, we just used the services of a person who gets his flooring from Floormasters but gives you a better price. His work is also very good. His company name is B&B Installers, Steve Blackburn. Obviously, there are many installers in this area and many satisfied people. We used A.N.W Flooring Inc. out of Ocala. Adam does much of the work himself and is very professional about the whole process. We got four quotes, some of which were ludicrous, he was not the low bidder but he gave us the names of people for whom he had put in floors and were wiling to show it off. We had Quickstep laminate and for once we have an installation requiring no returns to fix this and that, a product that does all it says it will and a happy household !

After visiting most of the flooring installers in our area, we selected East Coast Flooring.
They did an excellent job of installing laminate flooring. They will remove the baseboards, and repaint them, before putting them back on.

East Coast Flooring does this automatically,also have the installers put pads on the furniture when they put the furniture back.

Good Luck in your final selection. Hardwood Floors is the way to go..if you have a pet..perhaps Laminate may be a better choice. Carpet ??? You will remove it that's a promise. Tile bathrooms...Kitchen ?? a toss-up between Hardwood/Tile.
Lastly some of the recomendations here I would not waste my time with.

So which recommendations here would you not waste your time with? It's not helpful to make that kind of a statement and leave everyone hanging.

The wood look tile will probably be my choice when it's time to replace our current laminate. I love the look of our floors, but I'm a tile fan. I love the cool floors and the ability to change the decor with some simple throw rugs, which I can also do with the laminate. Grouts have come a long way in recent years, so I don't think that's a problem anymore, plus you can scrub tile, if necessary.

We have a cat and also seem to pick up a lot of dust, even though we don't have the windows open. I am slightly "allergic". For that reason I would not have carpet. Sure, it doesn't show dust, but that just means you are living with it and don't know it.

I've never heard of wood-look porcelain tile, sounds interesting. We will need to replace our carpet in the fall when we get back to TV. Fireboy has his heart set on hardwood, but I want something that doesn't scratch.

Who sells wood-look porcelain tile? Does it really look like wood? Does it come in different colors and designs like laminate?

We went back and forth concerning replacement flooring in our three bedrooms and decided to stay with carpet. The rest of the house is tile

My neighbors replacement was wood but even after testing found water to be a problem and replaced the wood with tile.

We had wood floors in homes up north and I loved the stuff. We refinished it before selling our home and I almost didn't sell

If you consider wood be sure to test nd test carefully for water problems

I assume porcelain tile is like ceramic tile, or is does it have more "give"? I guess I have to look at it myself. I avoid ceramic tile because I find it cold, hard on the legs, with an echo. Whereas laminate, especially with special underpad, is much warmer and more giving. Obviously porcelain would be more practical for a kitchen because of water spills, and excellent because it couldn't be scratched by our dogs. Well, we'll probably end up with hardwood, Fireboy's favorite, because although he would tell you the opposite, he always gets his way!

Porcelain tile is hard like ceramic. We had laminate in our kitchen and hated it - tore it out and put in tile. laminate and wet areas = trouble!

Eastcoast Flooring on 441 N. They remove the baseboard, pull the nails and plug the holes. Repainting the baseboard and put it back seamlessly. No 1/4 round. They will repair the concrete if the need is there. Professional and courteous through out the installation. They move and replace all furniture, and will place felt pads on the legs if you have them. Really GREAT company.

We had a horrible experience with laminate and water. The cats chased around under the Christmas tree and dislodged the mechanical tree feeder hose. Horrible buckling by the time we discovered it. Had to replace the whole floor. We used the insurance check toward real hardwood flooring, which could be refinished.

Fireboy might be happier with real hardwood that can be refinished in case of water spotting (as in dog drool not caught in time) and scratching of the surface (as in your dogs' nails).
