Default Closets by design should be out of business

I have not complained about any contractors/services but I have to say:

After a really nice designer came to work on the design, and I gave my 50% deposit, the office couldn't give me the time of day when I wanted to know approximately when they would be coming and how long the job would take. They would offer no estimate other than the day until finally I was able to get some information WHICH turned out to be wrong anyway. They arrived with the wrong sized drawers, not just one closet but three and without correct hardware. The customer service girl condescendingly told me it would "take three weeks to get me on the board" her terminology for getting another appointment for the right drawers to be delivered. I made a stink with the supervisor and they came in a week BUT again with the wrong sizes. All this and, at every chance they got, they reminded me I owe a balance which was clearly far more important than doing the job correctly. The customer service is non existent. They are a disaster. We have had more than fifteen contractors for various after market builds and this stood out at the absolute bottom of the pack.

Well that sucks, but why 50%?

They thereafter controlled the job/work and pace.

R they not a national franchise from Orlando?

If so call HQ

Well, Jimbo, if you think about it, I did control the job in the end...just not the pace.
I already spoke to the owners. They were appropriately apologetic and obsequious.
I believe all closet design companies operate on the same 50% deposit because it is custom work. Materials get paid. Labor is the balance.
Quite frankly I am not looking for a lesson here..I was simply advising that you might look at other closet companies.

If a company that big needs 50% down to buy materials, get a different company.

As in an under-capitalized franchisee.

I tihnk all the TV residents should revolt and refuse paying in advance or giving deposits

We had a custom made hide-a-way bed with built in desk, etc made. it required 50% down before they would build it. I think that is standard

Default Thumbs up for Custom Home Closets

We used Custom HomeClosets and couldn't be happier. Great design and great customer service. Tammy and Judy were great to work with.
