Lightbulb Residents of Lake Denham, Eastport, Dabney, Moultrie Creek, Enclave: Read This!

If you are in these newer Village homes, you may already have the required home surge protection BUT there are better options available to you!
The Villages has specified for new construction homes in which were permitted after late December/early January were required to follow the 2020 NEC Code Cycle requiring electrical trades to install "some form" of surge protection. In which, the BRPSurge plug in breaker style device has been utilized in your newly constructed home. This protection is great for your 1st year of residency, however, afterwards, the warranty of the device and any of your home's appliances ceases. We highly recommend you read into the differences in which have attached a comparison flyer for you. An investment in whole home surge protection with the warranty offered through the CHSPT2ULTRA is far worth it over having to replace major home appliances due to surge damage. This information also can be found at Eaton's website here: https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/ea...cc003013en.pdf
We highly encourage residents to invest in the CHSPT2ULTRA. It is the best form of whole home protection with loads of coverage for equipment and backed with the limited lifetime warranty. This product cannot be beat.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions!

I 100% agree that the CHSPT2ULTRA is a much better whole house surge protector and worth installing to replace the BRNSURGE, but both are Type-2 (your flyer is incorrect).

The ultra is larger (higher capacity) but is still wired to the panel, a Type-1 device would be between the service and panel, like what SECO would install.

Good morning onfire, Appreciate your insight on the type 1 and 2. The BRPsurge breaker surge, although not as strong or can withstand a surge like the higher options such as the CHSPT2ULTRA, is still consiered a "type 2" because of its installation application. This was a typo on my part.
I have updated the form attached removing the level 1 or 2 contrast, as they are both considered type 2. Most homeowners who call in ask, if they should or even need ot have a device installed such as the CHSPT2ULTRA if they already have the power company's device on the meter and my answer is always yes. I think it is very important to know what your home already has for protection, inside and out, along with what options are available. Appreciate your comment and correction
