I’ll tell you how to get the cities back under control. How do you think THE GREATEST GENERATION of WWII would have handled this? People today have to make a decision. Are we going to turn a blind eye, watch our cities burn and get destroyed by thugs who have been empowered by people in charge who let them, or do we do what we know has to be done? Let the police and the National Guard go in to these cities with force kick some but, make arrests, and restore order. And I don’t mean peaceful protesters. I’m sorry but we have been dealing with our current unrest with social worker mentality instead of brute force.

Just for the record: "Law and Order and respect for the Police" isn't even on the top 10 lists of the "very foundation of America."

America was founded as the direct result of civil protest against the government. The "founding fathers" were all British - some from England, some from Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Their countries had been at constant war over monarchy rule and religious persecution by their own government.

They came here to get AWAY from all that, and to create what they believed could be a utopia.

Law and Order was one of the combination of methods to firm up their ideas, but they were not one of the ideas themselves. Law and Order is a tool, nothing more or less, and if it isn't implemented efficiently, it will fail. We are seeing its failure, at the current junction of our country's ongoing history.

For the record: I don't support anyone who would shoot a police officer, any more than I would support a police officer who shoots someone who isn't being violent (whether with a weapon or with a drug-induced outburst). I don't support violence, period. And anyone who blocks a hospital needs to be removed from the premises. Peacefully if at all possible - cuffed and charged if necessary but without violence.

It looks like both officers will survive. One was shot in the jaw and the other in the forehead. I suspect neither one will recover fully but we can and should be hopeful. There is $100K available for information about the shooter. I doubt it will be very long before he is apprehended - somebody will turn him in for the money. Hopefully the justice system will make an example of him.

Anyone arrested who is on public assistance should be removed and allowed to find something productive to do with their time like get a job.

The violence in our cities needs to come to an end....peaceful protesters need to be told to go home...anyone still creating a problem needs to be dealt with quickly with an appropriate show of force and treated like the thugs that they are. No one has the right to burn, loot, throw rocks at police, destroy property and businesses and create the chaos that is going on....that is not one of our freedoms

The consequences for this type of unruly, uncivilized and dangerous behavior need to be enforced.

Where are the leaders in these cities and the religious leaders??? Why are they silent???
