Here's a solution, quit forcing kids to get up at 4am and carry 100lbs of books back and forth to school. Start school at a reasonable hour. Then they don't have to walk anywhere in the dark.

Not that complicated.

DLST only save hour of sun light in evening (course you loose that hour in morning) has no effect on the standard time zones cause then sun don’t come up all at once across country. why we have 4 time zones. What makes it complicated when you live right on the time zone line. Those are the people that usually hate DLST.

Majority of kid don’t get up at 4am nor do the carry 100 pounds or books. Now if live out in sticks and have to ride bus for hour then maybe(even then, I doubt they get up before 6 when majority of schools Start at 8:15AM. They still don’t carry 100 pounds of books, free government laptop maybe?

I agree they should have reflective vests (or backpacks, or sneakers), but I don't agree that the schools should supply them...

Fall time change marks a time of rustling leaves, harvesting vegetable garden’s last crops , an abundance of apples and a slower pace of life with rusty reds, golden browns and burnished yellows against the light of shortening days.

Daylight savings time is an excellent marker of time, to remind us it waits for no one.

There’s a better chance of a Costco building in The Villages than what is being “proposed”……. LOL !

I was exaggerating to make the point, that it seems to me that rather than need protective clothing, it would be easier to just make school start a little later. The main reason I have seen given for starting school so early, is so the parents can get to work on time. Basically, our school system provides day care for the parents. The schools closing over the past couple years have led to a lot of parents having to quit their jobs.

As to the free last top, maybe, It could be less expensive than the rip-off extortionist prices of the school books most schools pay. When he was alive Richard Feynman was asked to evaluate some physics books before the school board purchased them. They were not happy with his evaluation of those school books.

This is so far off base, the amount of sunlight will not change for the day. Same amount of sun, just a different setting on the clock!

I love your description of the change of seasons.

We lived on the edge of the Eastern time zone in West Michigan. It was fabulous, especially during DST in the summer when the sun was still up at 10 pm. We loved it.

Our dog didn't care if it was 6:30 Daylight Savings Time or 6:30 Standard Time. Breakfast was at 6:30, and I got "snouted" awake. The fact that I'm retired never mattered.

On the plus side, we may see fewer dog poop threads, as it will be hard to see out the window during morning walkies time.

We agree on the reflective vests. I really don't care who purchases the vests, just that the kids must wear them.

Whew.....my bad. Just glad to know people really don't think there is actually one more hour of daylight. Thanks for setting me straight.
