I’ll sell my caldera pass, or trade for shares in the Brooklyn bridge

We all know about the water shortages in the southwest . The large earth moving vehicles all run on diesel or gasoline.
The toxic chemicals used in mining lithium renders the land mined uninhabitable for 100s of years .
But where there is money to be made ?
This is a good video discussing the costs of Lithium mining. This area in South America currently holds half the world’s proven reserves. I can’t see American environmentalists allowing this to happen in Nevada.

Actually, mining for uranium and mercury went on in that caldera in the middle of nowhere for much of the 20th century. The size f that lithium deposit at the Thacker Pass part of the caldera was discovered in 2007, and the Bureau of Land Management cleared it so mining could begin in 2021. So this is not a new discovery, as your source claims. However, the majority shareholder in the privately-owned company that has the rights to mine there is CHINESE! So our American lithium will mostly enrich China, even if used in American cars. I don’t know it most people realize it, but China has a number of brands of cars made there, and the most popular models are EV, by far, and huge numbers of EVs made in China are being sold in Europe. This is expected to double in the next year.

Yet it’s labeled as “green energy” and being jammed down our throats?

I'm betting it gets sold to the Chinese.

Not to mention the coal that is used to make electricity to charge the batteries.

Electricity comes from many sources. Coal is only a small one of them.
I have a friend in northern Minnesota who has a solar array and has a power wall to store the electricity. He uses this stored electricity to charge his Tesla. He is using absolutely no commercial power to drive his car.

20% is not "small"...

It is more than Hydro, Solar and Wind combined...

Given the cost and the difficulty/dirtiness of refining, research will continue to look for alternatives

Sodium-ion batteries are gaining traction thanks to a ‘game-changing’ new partnership: ‘The battery of the future’

Following the LIT ETF, its not going to the moon as it should have if the future is so bright for lithium

Devastating risks of transitioning to 'green' energy: Mining for electric-powering minerals has left 23 million people exposed to toxic waste, 500,000km of rivers polluted and 16 million acres of farmland ruined.
