Actually, I had an appointment with my PCP for this past week which I cancelled. When I saw the news report (that I spoke of in my OP) on the NBC nightly news with Lester then saw the same report by Nora on CBS, I decided to cancel my appointment. I'll wait for the Moderna vaccine booster to have EUA for the general population. I'll be happy to wait my turn and get my booster when the general population is given the OK to do so.

I heard this from Lester Holt (NBC) and from Nora O'Donnell (CBS). I know many of you do not consider these news sources to be reliable so now I'm starting to wonder just how reliable they are. Can't believe I even said that!

I went to the Johns Hopkins website, as recommended by someone on another thread. Johns Hopkins states that they are administering Pfizer and Moderna booster shots to those who have a "qualifying medical condition". This is from the Johns Hopkins website, FAQ..........

"Is Johns Hopkins offering third shots of the Covid-19 vaccines?
Yes. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized an additional COVID-19 vaccine dose for people who received either the Pfizer-BioNTech or the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines and have a qualifying medical condition, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A third shot has been authorized only for the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

People with a qualifying medical condition who have received either the Pfizer-BioNTech or the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are eligible to get an additional dose of the same vaccine at select Johns Hopkins Medicine vaccination clinics. Eligible people must schedule a COVID-19 vaccine third dose in advance, as follows:

Schedule online through MyChart. View scheduling instructions.
Schedule by phone at 443-997-1875, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The FDA and CDC continue to evaluate data regarding the need for additional doses for other populations. For now, those who received the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine are not eligible to receive any additional doses of any authorized COVID-19 vaccines. Read more about getting a COVID-19 third dose at Johns Hopkins Medicine."

This is the Johns Hopkins website with this information. I consider Johns Hopkins to be a reliable source......

COVID-19 Vaccination Guidance for Johns Hopkins Medicine Patients | Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Updates
The NY Times morning report said that the FDA is still REVIEWING the Moderna booster. J and J has not yet sent in an application to the FDA. And yes, many people on this forum have said that they have received some Pfizer and Moderna 3rd shote........some talked THEIR Doctor into giving it to them........and some just went into a drug chain and got them by lying - cheap shot ( pun intended) con artists!

The CDC decision applies just to those vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine and not for those who received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. A booster recommendation for those two vaccines is expected in the coming weeks, US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said on Friday.

Let me go one step further. All these providers (physicians and pharmacies) who are administering the third shots of Moderna (AKA boosters by some) are just not listening to or following the guidance of the CDC. Am I understanding that correctly???

Both my wife and I had 3rd shot of Moderna at Publix. We signed up and made an appointment. We are both in our 70’s. We did not lie, as some seem to think is necessary in order to get the shot.

I got my booster yesterday. I decided to go to my dr. Because I always feel that as a medical professional they are up to date. We’ll, I received Pfizer #2 in Feb. Understanding that Pfizer is the only one authorized, I schedule an appointment. Go in, give them my card, get the shot and pick up my card. Then I see that I received MODERNA. I told the aide my two shot vaccination was Pfizer. She tells me not to worry, they’re the same, they’re only giving Moderna. now I’m hoping I don’t pee green or glow in the dark.

Wow, this is a total sh*tshow! Why would the pharmacies/doctors be so eager to give boosters? Are they remunerated/getting kickbacks in some way for using up all their vaccines?

Welp, I guess you can't say Florida is anti-vaccine. Everyone seems to be all about it this time around.

Just to be one the safe side, why not go ahead and get the Pfizer booster also?

Just kidding. Had to add that caveat since some will ultimately take the statement seriously.

Re: mixing vaccines

Several countries, including Canada and Israel are mixing vaccines.

There is no single, authoritative agency worldwide with the answer.

Some studies even state that the Moderna is more effective than Pfizer.

Sorry to hear this. No, they are not the same. They are both mRNA vaccines but seems Moderna is coming out ahead of Pfizer with real life efficiency of the vaccine.

Your mishap is the reason why I verified with the person giving me my second shot that the vaccine was Moderna , BEFORE my injection was administered to me. I will verify again when I get my third shot and make sure it is Moderna before the injection is given to me.
