You do know that HHS oversees the CDC and always has right? It's nonsense to spread panic that the "numbers will be corrupted" because they are trying to streamline data reporting. Individual States will still publish all data on their own websites. That's where the numbers come from. Do you think all 50 states will conspire to corrupt the data?

Director of CDC Redfield

"No one is taking access or data away from CDC,"

Then the media trots out various experts to say why this is alarming.

Isn't that a "response?"

Don't know if it fits but it seems like MASS HYSTERIA is a factor. Many weaker individuals are prone to panic when the going gets a little difficult. But, you have proven in your other threads that you can't FIX it with facts.

You seem to trivialize the deaths of older people; are caused by their bad behaviors “mixing it up” and taking too many chances.

Lastly you dismiss the rapidly spreading virus with I think surge of new cases will peak before the end of the month

Suggest you get a new crystal ball, yours is as obscure as your logic
Just to be clear. 17 people have died from Covid-19 in The Villages since "they" started counting those deaths in March. They didn't die yesterday. All told.

Failed? I guess some folks do not have a sense of humor. I have a relative in the hospital, fighting for his life on a respirator but I can still enjoy a bit of levity.

Did someone on here suggest NOT WEARING A MASK? I guess my education is not sufficient to read someone's mind via their post that does not suggest anything related to that assumption.

People don't like to be ridiculed. Especially pandemic panic spreaders.

Reading half the responses on here, it appears that Mass Hysteria is spreading it's ugly head. Gotta love the responses that suggest that they are "smarter and more educated" than you because they "believe" it is the end of the world.

I live in Sumter Co. and there have been 18 deaths total (or was it 17?). BUT, I believe there has only been 8 or 9 deaths in The Villages portion of Sumter Co. Not sure, because I have to rely on iffy reporting. 8 or 9 deaths in the past six months of this thing does not panic me. I wear my homemade mask like a good soldier and was even wearing gloves and eye protection when this thing started and we had less information to guide us. But, no matter how much precaution you take, there are always those that "KNOW" much more than us and are much more "educated" that will force their demands upon us, so as to protect them.

Infections go up as more testing data accumulates. That's just logical and for those that are "educated" it's "science." More importantly is the ratio of persons that test positive and are hospitalized and then add to that the amount of deaths and the actual dates of death. 8 or 9 deaths total suggests that we do not have as much problem here as in other areas, so we should look to see how we differ in our efforts. I shop about once a week for my spouse until things get better, but I see half of the other shoppers without masks. And yet, we still have a low mortality rate. Something to think about.

You missed the everywhere news that the Glorida State Health Dept. has been VASTLY exaggerating COVID test positives and that labs have been reporting NO negatives. We are being scammed. (follow the money)

Totally agree with Red Chariot ! this has to be a spoof to get response > I cant believe anyone reguardless of education level would think this is a hoax. A few more options should be added.
1. None of the above
2.Believe virus is real and trying to help contain the spread and hopefully save others.
3.Science isn't always perfect but suggested actions are better than putting your head the sand and doing nothing to try and contain the virus (until it affects you or someone close to you)
4.I feel so sorry for all the hospital medical workers exposing themself and their families every day and hope they don't just give up because they are so overwhelmed with new cases and deaths. If they give up thinking no one believes the virus is real and cases continue to rise > Where will we all be. I will try to maintain social distance and wear a mask to try and do my very small part to contain the virus.

I don't believe I have ever called the coronavirus a hoax. I am probably more careful than 90% of commenters here. I do call a lot of media reports a hoax, because they are designed to scare rather than inform.

You say those under 50 seldom die from COVID, I’m sure that will make the 140,000 Americans that have died from it already, feel much better.

Yes, "happy talk" could try to carry the day. And gassy beans and hydrochloroquine might increase their profits. Profits which benefit who I wonder?
