It made me even more proud to be a lifelong Yankee fan.

Whatever happened to the outrage of the killing of Tessa Majors in NY right before Christmas 2019 by 3 juvenile AA thugs? No marches for her. She dead.

Only some of the worst people deny the Holocaust.

Now we have a group saying "Black lives matter" to which so many on this website and elsewhere retort "all lives matter" and criticize the Black leaders for their narrow focus. The same narrow focus Jewish leaders have about the atrocity visited upon them by their governments. Stop with the denial of their righteous and important focus and the support of others who recognize their pain and their cause.

Would you have been angered at Jews who did not stand for the anthem when they learned that FDR was aware of the concentration camps and did nothing or turned away Jewish refugees sending them back to Europe to their death as they were the poor and unwashed beyond our quota? If your county does nothing to help and even worse is actively involved in the extermination of your people does it deserve "respect"? Should Native Americans be allowed to kneel in reflection for how they were treated?

I am sick and tired of white supremacists who say not every unarmed person killed by a cop was black. Not every person killed in Auschwitz was a Jew either. This nation was founded with slavery enshrined in its constitution. The White House was built by slaves. Pennsylvania which had allowed non-Whites to vote removed that provision in 1838 and it was not restored until 1869. It took the bloodiest war in US history to end slavery and then people looked the other way as the Jim Crow laws put the Negro back into inequality. The KKK, lynchings, police brutality, segregation all either ignored or actively supported by local state and the federal government.

And now it continues. On this website people start thread after thread on the same tired tropes. If only the Blacks wouldn't be so uppity. If only they'd behave and act like I think they should. If only they weren't so lazy and shiftless. If only they'd not sully our beautiful white women with their rapes.

So yes Black Lives Matter. Finally the majority of Americans are getting the clue. And now that most corporations are seeing this moment in history and getting on board perhaps we can begin as a nation to undo some of the systematic racism most of us see, Then healing can begin and the flag might actually mean to POC what it means to some of you.
“Blueash”, your comment gives us hope that we are finally taking the painful & uncomfortable steps required to be the republic our better angels aspire us to be.
Thank You

The organization Black Lives Matter is the most successful scam of our lifetime!

NOT THE STATEMENT, the organization! I truly believe my life is not one iota more valuable than the life of any other human being, PERIOD. That is not what BLM believes. I won't bore you with facts. Read their literature go to their web site. Download their leaders videos. BLM only cares about deaths from white police officers. Go to their website click on donate. It will redirect you to ActBlue Charities. That site brags that it is a super pac that raises money for "progressive Democrat" organizations.

Our police are NOT systemically racist. They may get cynical and jaded. So would you if you worked in NYC (71% of all crime and 92% of violent crime committed by blacks). They see their own fellow officers ambushed and murdered ONLY because they wear the uniform. They see that at a rate astoundingly higher than any police on black incidents. The BIG problem with our police system is that they can't fire "bad" ones. Overly aggressive yes even a racist individual can be hired. The unions make it virtually impossible to simply fire them when recognized, until way too late (say Derek Chauvin)! A mutually agreeable group needs to be accepted by union and management so that the bad apples do not destroy the overall great work of our police.

I'm actually over all professional sports except golf. There is no National Anthem and no taking a knee unless it is to line up a putt.

If it was during the national anthem then I find it quite unpatriotic. if these pampered so called athletes had to serve their country I'm sure they would give our country more respect. I find this repulsive and extremely rude. I won't be watching these morons in the future. I'm sure you probably didn't serve either or you would have thought otherwise

All any true American saw was disrespect for veterans and America. Wonder if they could take a knee in China. No one group is anymore important than another and to see a bunch of multi millionaires disrespect their country is unbelievable. Use their millions to help those who they say they want to help. They are just sheep following the crowd.

Many people will simply stop watching politicized sports. At some point, the players will get to deal with pay cuts. An interesting factoid ... A&E cancelled their popular "Live PD" show and A&E's ratings have dropped about 50% as a result. Go woke, and go broke.

Wrong. Well said. If they do not respect the flag then quit your AMERICAN team where you get paid by AMERICAN money or go play for a different country!

I turned it on for a couple of minutes as well. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched MLB. Where are Mantle and Maris? Were the benched?

[QUOTE=La lamy;1807905]Did you see the beginning of the home opener in Washington last night where ALL the baseball players of both teams took a knee? That was quite shocking. I'm not one for political statement in work places, but I found it quite awesome to see so much support for black people.[/
while they may have all taken a knee BEFORE the game, my understanding is they all STOOD for National Anthem.

I believe what Blue said was sarcastic in order to make a point. Any reference to the Holocaust is "dicey". It stirs up too much emotion. It is hard to talk about it or even mention it. I interpreted it to mean that various groups ALL have historys of assimilation problems. It just appears that it is taking longer in the US for that process to happen with Blacks. I believe that eventually it will.

BLM movement was formed on lies about Trayvon Martin and "hands up don't shoot" Michael Brown. Blacks commit more crimes per capita than any other race in America and so logically they have more interactions with police. Crying racism every time they get arrested is a smokescreen to hide the real problem.
I believe that a REAL comparison can be made from the INJUSTICES and killing of 6 million in 1940's era Germany and the plight of millions of Africans that were CAPTURED and brought to the Americas in what (?) 1641. In both cases neither race/ethnicity deserved that treatment and BOTH were at the hands of the government in place at the time. In the US, Blacks and Jewish people have ALWAYS had somewhat of a kinship. They suffered and WORRY to this day that a rogue government could again do them BOTH great harm. So, yes there is a historic and strong connection.
