The wire is buried in concrete. Don't know how you would do once the house is built. You should be able to put another outlet in new construction home. If we could do over, we would have had TV add another outlet in the floor.

This post reminds me of a friend who wants to remodel their kitchen. This would mean moving the sink from the island over to the wall. In these homes it's tough to do these kinds of add-ons "after" the house is built. You're dealing with cement floors that have to be opened up etc. If we lived "up north" it's easier since there we have basements etc. Not so easy here!!!

I think there maybe some confusion. I just heard that the new homes being built do NOT have an outlet in the living room floor as in the past, some of the homes that used be standard.
If you are building now, you would simply need to figure out where your furnishings will be placed and see if you need one.
We have one under our sofa and it is great for lamps on either side however, I have seen homes where the sofa is placed on the long wall that most place their TVs on and the plug sticks out like a sore thumb on the floor.
It is good idea to have extra outlets placed on the outside of the home and it relatively inexpensive if you are a new build.

only way to add after built is to cut the floor.

Water is used so no duct but a lot of mopping, then lay in the wire re-cement.

We bought our Wyndham CYV last January so we bought as-built. Our family room is oversized (stretched) and it is huge! We didn't even think about outlets needed for table lamps; wouldn't have mattered since the CYVs are pre-built. Anyway, we are seriously considering contacting an electrician, after we move there permanently, to find out whether an outlet can be put in the floor. It will probably be very expensive, but worth it because having an extension cord running about 12 feet from under the sofa to the wall is a safety hazard. The room is too big, really, to have the entertainment center on one wall and the sofa on the opposite wall unless we buy a 70-inch TV...not happening. There should probably be some kind of building code that requires floor outlets in rooms exceeding X number of square feet.... Since there apparently isn't one, we'll make do with what we have and be very happy to be living in The Villages, early next year, we hope.

Since you posted this in the DIY forum. But it can be done. Would need someone to "cut " a hole in the concrete pad, then feed plastic tubing (conduit) under floor to opening and also to Electrical Breaker box. So yes it can be done, safely and effectively, but does not sound like a DIY job.

I've this before I really don't think you will feed conduit under a slab.

U need to cut a 3-4 inch wide trench and lay the conduit in.

So U make two cuts chisel out the 3-4", now if there is one in the floor already U can just cut from the existing one to the new location, lamps draw little juice.

Butr if there R none U need to go up a wall into the attic to the panel.

Our cottage did not come with one in the floor this is going to be hard to figure out how to run cords under furniture

We just had it done two weeks ago and it turned out to be a very dirty and messy thing to do. Don't recommend it unless you are ready to clean your entire home off cement powder which comes from drilling into the foundation, which is the only way to do it once the home is built. Just saying!!!!

That is because it was done the wrong way.

No powder or dust when you have it done with a wet saw, maybe 2 quarts of water to mop up.

Lowes and Home Depot sell decorative " conduit" that either hugs the floor/wall or attaches to the baseboards that allow running extension cords to outlets without the unsightly cords all over the place. They come in different designs allowing for very creative routing. Installs with two sided tape...comes in white and is paintable.

Very reasonably priced. Blends in very nicely!
