With rivers to swim and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.

'Tis my theme, this poem. Housework is such a bore.
I, like some of my friends, claim that ... "In my house you can eat of my floor" but I also add ... "and you will be full!!" :icon_wink:

I'm noticing that when the weather is cool in TV, activity on TOTV really increases. And it sure is cold today. :cold:

Well, it is cold for TV. In Canada, we'd call this weather tropical.

Does anyone know where I can buy an inexpensive twin bed set? I found one on Craig's List, but they're not returning my calls. Nothing at Bargains and Treasures right now.

Do you know of any other good internet sites?

nONIE 11-22-2008 01:56 PM

Bare,
We purchased our King size Bed at 1-2-3 beds on 44l in Leesburg. It was a Serta, extremely comfortable and very inexpensive compared to other furniture and bedding stores.

It cant hurt to give them a call and ask!

Barefoot 11-23-2008 08:36 AM

Good suggestion, 1-2-3 Beds, thanks. I'll try them.

I was supposed to be shopping yesterday for a twin bedroom set (guests coming). But instead I bought a Wii. ;)

Nonie, I will miss going to church with you today at SS.

nONIE 11-23-2008 09:14 PM

Ill miss you too Bare! Pray for me, its sooooo cold and dark up here!!!!

Barefoot 11-24-2008 09:39 AM

Weather

Interesting about weather in TV. When it is in the low 60s, the Dog Park is usually deserted. People stay indoors a lot. Yet if they were at home, in the northern States, they'd consider 60 balmy and be running around loving it.

I can't figure out what kind of clothes to buy. One week it can be 85 degrees and the next week in the 60s, and much colder at night. I guess plenty of shawls would work!

We live in lotus land and it is truly wonderful here.

Barefoot 11-24-2008 11:29 PM

Wii

We bought a Wii Console this weekend ... couldn't find Wii Fit. But we have the Sport's CDs which are lots of fun. I didn't realize how uncoordinated I am. Hopefully that will improve with practice.

We can hardly wait to get the Wii Fit!

Beady said Coldwater Creek is coming to TV ... Another new store to open in the Fall! I also really like Chico's at SS.

I'm tired of shopping in teenager stores. The above stores offer clothes that actually fit women.

And your favorite store is ______________?

Bare, I wont even mention it because it is a teenager store, but fortunately they do have bigger sizes. Suits me just fine, Im a teenager in an old ladies body. :1rotfl:

Thanks Homeball, I love to get those shopping internet sites. I like Liz Claiborne. So far I'm too repressed to do anything but look at the pictures of clothes. I've come close to ordering from Coldwater Canyon; still I hesitate. But soon, soon.

I'm hoping to do some Christmas shopping on line this year, if I can figure out sites I can trust.

I actually posted this site. Got confused, didn't realize I was logged in as Homeball, my other half.
Sorry.

However, I have been ordering from Liz for about 6 years and have been very pleased.
Usually buy sales & clearance and have gotten some really nice buys.

Service is good and they have some really good promotions and sales.

Happy shopping,
Gail:smiley:

Do you find that their sizes run "true"? Or do you find them either smaller or more generous?

Boomer 11-25-2008 11:57 PM

Coldwater Creek is my favorite store. But I hate to shop. A couple of years ago, I made a great connection with a woman who works there. I only go in maybe three times a year and I always call first to see when she will be working. I tell her what I am looking for and she has things ready for me to try on. That's how I like to shop. Fast.

I have to show you this top from Coldwater Creek in case you are looking for something to wear under jackets. I have 2 or 3 of these in different colors. The neckline is nice, not too low or too high. The fabric holds its shape. It is not 2 sizes bigger by the end of the day. This is a nice basic to have in the closet. And the touch of lace around the bottom gives it a little pizazz.

This is a morning addition to that little "Ode to Coldwater Creek" that I wrote here last night. A few more things about CC.........

I like to pretend that their sizes are like others, but sometimes I wonder if they could be just a tiny bit bigger. (Not that that's a bad thing, you know.) I also suspect that their mirrors may be designed to make us look skinnier. (Not that that's a bad thing either.) I really don't know if either of these two irresponsible statements I am making here before 7:00 AM has any remote basis in fact. I just know that I feel better about myself after I shop at Coldwater Creek.

CC is definitely not a teenybopper store. Teenybopper stores are even aggravating to my teenybopper granddaughter. She prefers NOT to dress like a, um, how should I say it, uh, hmmmm, -- streetwalker. In fact, she even rants about it sometimes. (We think ranting is a genetic predisposition.) Anyway, teenage girls who want to look stylish but keep it covered up a little have bigger problems shopping than we do. But that's a completely different topic - thread - soapbox - whatever.

Boomer

Barefoot 11-26-2008 10:59 AM

Thanks Boomer. I suspected the CC sizes were "generous" to give us a false sense of being petite again.

Sizes tend to be "true" to generous, not a bad thing.
Good thing is that you can try them on in the store to get a idea of sizing.

I've now had artificial nails for over a month (the first time ever). I just love them. For the first time in my life, my nails always look nice.

My new nails are gel and I have french tips. I know that there are also acrylic and solar nails and something called pink and white.

Can anyone explain to me what all those terms mean? I asked them to explain at the Nail Salon but there is a language barrier and I'm not understanding why a person would choose one type over another.

chelsea24 12-06-2008 04:30 PM

Bare! Put those peckers away! Never would have let you get your nails done if I knew you were going to obsess on them! :1rotfl:

p.s. You nails look beautiful. I don't know the difference. I just know the acrylic are cheaper!

Barefoot 12-07-2008 12:30 AM

Chels, I have an obsessive need to research everything. I can't buy a fly swatter without researching all the different types and prices.

I drive myself crazy. I'm trying to quit.

Out of curiousity, Barefoot, are you an engineer? ;) I hear they are afflicted with the same qualities. (Or should I say blessed?)

No Peachie, I'm worse than an engineer, I'm a Gemini. :yuck: We have split personalities.

Half of me analyzes everything to death, and the other half is a free spirit who looks on in horror and has no time or patience for that crap. I have constant boxing matches in my head. :boxing2:

I guess that is why I stumble around with a dazed look on my face most of the time.

Just Susan 12-07-2008 11:37 AM

Oh dear friend we are going to have so very much fun together. I am ROTFLMAO right now. :1rotfl::a20::1rotfl:
Which is another good thing.

Nails

I just tried a new Nails place. It opened a month ago. Golf cart accessible. Located beside Bonefish Grill in Buffalo Ridge on 466. I used Cindy, and I think she does a good job. Competition for Hollywood Nails for sure.

Nails and Beyond
3606 Wedgewood Lane
352-753-9222

This time I got pink and white nails. I just started this whole artificial nail thing in October; and I sure do like having nice nails. (Chels thinks I'm suffering from a serious nail obsession. I fear she may be correct.)

Hahaha Chels, I also got nail art on my toes.

Sitting here admiring my nails
Bare

chelsea24 12-28-2008 12:22 AM

Omg!

Bare! Calling all of Bare's dear friends! We must stop her! We must hold an intervention! I can see her being taken away now screaming "Naillllllsssss!"

:1rotfl: Ooooo, and now a picture on your toesies! (It's best to humor her in times like this.)

pssstttttt..... people. Let's stop her before she pedicures again! The next thing you know she'll be going for a Swiss Bikini Wax and a resounding "Yeoowwwwwwwww" will be heard 'round The Villages!

Just Susan 12-28-2008 12:46 AM

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, Chels, she's on the ledge...I'm going to try talking her down...she keeps mumbling something about ..."not only pretty but good for mountain climbing". Geesh she is half way up Katie Belles outer wall.
Help, we need help. Chels and I can not tame this wild woman alone...oh wait, look, Chico's is having their After Christmas Sale...Bare, darling I can see the cutest pink tunic in the window, it will match your nail job, I just know it will. Come on down dear, before someone else buys it.... (shhh I think it's working)

Barefoot 12-28-2008 09:38 AM

Chels, not sure what good a bikini wax would be since I retired my binkini in
1974! People had started complaining.

Susan, did I just hear the magic words "Sale at Chico's"? I love that store.
OK, no more nail art, I need to save my $s for Chico!

Just Susan 12-28-2008 12:14 PM

I know Bare that is how I got you down from the roof. I love their sales. Wait til Coldwater Creek gets to TV. We are going to have so much fun....Chargggggggggge:crap2: Ooooohhhh that's right it is a new economy...okay so cashhhhhhhhhhh :yuck:

Actually, and I am really sorry about this Chels, but, Bare why don't we make an appointment for the works while I am visiting? I have pretty good natural nails, so don't want acrylics, but a manicure/pedicure might be fun.:coolsmiley:

That is funny Chels, you're right. When I worked at IBM and needed it, I never went to a spa.

Now I'm on vacation for the rest of my life, I have to go to a spa and relax.:laugh::laugh::laugh:
