Taking good care of oneself can be very tiring Chels, all that shopping and exercising and dieting and facials and make-overs and hair-coloring and nip-tucks, very tiring. One needs a Spa day to recover. It's not easy being a trophy wife in Stepford.
Make the reservations Bare. ...and Nonie you are probably one of the most accepted members of TOTV and TV. Goodness girl everyone loves you. ....(okay so the only one I do is shop...but that can be tiring) |
huh???
Hey Bare, any news on the nail front???? We haven't had an update in the last, oh, I'd say, 20 minutes! :1rotfl::popcorn:
|
Girl talk
Chels is poking fun at Barefoot. Again. ;)
Chels is even mocking the fact that Bare took up mahjong just to display her bootiful new artificial nails. :evil6: But we all know the truth. Chels pretends to jest about Bare's nails. But in actual fact, she is excruciatingly jealous of Bare's pink and whites! chilout |

Whalen, thanks for the Liz Claiborne site, I've put it in my favourites. Maybe when I lose 12 lbs on my January diet, I'll reward myself with some new clothes. Anyone else starting a January diet? So far I'm just thinking about it, do I ever hate dieting. |
Count me in...if I don't do something, you will think I am an escaped balloon from the Macy's Day Parade when we arrive in Feb. I am seriously mourning the death of my metabolism. :ohdear::ohdear::ohdear:
|
Thank you Whalen. Liz is my favorite brand of clothing and I'm checking out that site from top to bottom.
Bare...I gained 5 pounds over the holidays. It's time I get back into my normal eating pattern and lose that extra weight PLUS about 20 more pounds. |
Lose some for me, Bright. This eating out in TV is killing me,,,, not only in my budget but on my hips!! Should we have a contest? Maybe I'll have some incentive then.
|
You got a deal Kathie!
Want to check in with weight loss every Sunday? Incentives are a good way to lose and if we are having to report in every week that might help me. Game? I'll weigh myself in the morning...:cus: |
Game!!! :yuck::yuck::yuck: do we have a fainting smiley? whew, wait till I stand on that scale!!! |

Weight Loss
I think we should check in here every Friday with the amount of weight lost that week. Not mentioning what we actually weigh, OMG that would be too scary, but how many pounds we've lost.
And perhaps we should each set a goal of how many pounds we want to lose and a time frame. I'd love to lose 10 lbs in 4 days! But my days of starving myself skinny are past. I think that a pound a week is achievable and will still allow us some meals out. Anyone know of a good appetite suppressant? And don't say will power or green tea. If you say that, you definitely just don't understand! |
I am actually taking an appetite supressant and fat burner combination.
This was my dirty little secret but what the heck for friends, Ill tell anything. Its called Anoretix and can only be ordered online. I have had no side effects at all and have been taking them for at least 3 months now. you can find out all about it online. I can tell you one thing for sure, IT WORKS!!! |
Nonie, I'll be right over.... will you share some with your best g/f??? I'm desperate!! I'll give you some Prozac!!!
|
mY PLEASURE!! Keep the prozac, Ive got my own! LOL LOL
|
Nonie...
Nonie,
As for the Anoretix....any jitters???? I have read the articles about this pill and it seems that it is high recommended. How much weight have you lost? Thanks Joann |
Joanne P,
Absolutely no jitters at all, in fact no anything! However, I only take half the dosage they recommend per day. I have not lost alot of weight, cant say a number because I refuse to weigh myself. I know by how my clothes fit. But I definitely have gone down a size. I dont plan on staying on these pills forever, just a little while longer especially since The holidays were not kind to me in the weight department, but that was my fault.:( |
Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
I was talking to a woman today who just got a Roomba .. that is the little vacuum cleaner that is like a robot, it cleans by itself. She loves her new Roomba and says it works very well.
Now this sounds too good to be true. A vacuum cleaner that cleans by itself and goes back to its home base to be recharged when its battery gets low. How cute it that! I love it. I definitely want a Roomba. Does anyone out there have a Roomba? I'd love to hear some feedback. |

On the other hand, after you have removed your throw rugs, the kitty dishes, looped your computer cord over the chair, lifted your lamp cords off the floor, and moved your bar stools to another room, it works all by itself while you're taking a shower, and it really does go back to the charger and plug itself in. |
to color or not to color
I think I am going to enjoy reading your posts. Just this morning I saw my mother in the bathroom mirror and thought it's time to color the hair again.
I hid my bathroom scale way in the back of the closet before Christmas so I could enjoy the butter cookies and fruit cakes. Pulled it out this morning and I didnt gain a thing! So maybe all the bending and stretching and putting decorations up and taking them down did some good. But what I am not revealing is just how much overweight I am. Tomorrow tomorrow I will diet and get on the exercise bike. Tomorrow i will go to the pool. Maybe. Have you tried online researching on line whether you could oder the Wella product you like? Seems like you can do anything on line now. Beautiful day in Louisiana but wishing I were in TV. |

The Roomba website has about ten different models listed, and a couple of the robots are (supposedly) for pet hair. I'm wondering what model you have. Also, the website said Roombas are programmed to avoid cords, etc. But I didn't believe it. I'm not sure there is a Roomba in my future after all. |
Quote:
The Roomba has a little spinner brush that sweeps the pet hair out of corners and into its path so the hair can get swept up. Maybe the new pet hair models have a larger spinner or a larger debris container? My container can get filled with cat hair before it's finished sweeping the kitchen. (Gosh, I sound like a slob! I really do try to keep the kitchen floor swept! It's a BIG kitchen. The spinner will pull out things that are just underneath the grill on the refrigerator where cat hair and stray bits of cat chow often hide). As I said, the Roomba has good points and bad points. It works great on bare floors. If you plan to use it mainly on hard floors, you'll be satisfied with the job it does. It can work on carpet, but it has to work harder so the battery charge doesn't last as long. And since it's not a vacuum it doesn't pull dirt out of the carpet -- it just sweeps lint and crumbs (and cat hair) off the surface of the carpet. |
I just discovered hair coloring that only takes ten minutes. Called "Perfect10". Life just gets better and better.
|
Bare, I tried Perfect 10 and I think it only lasted 10 days before the gray came thru. That must be what they meant by perfect 10!!!
I hope you have better luck then I did. |
Awwwww...
Nonie and Bare! My two girls are perfect 10's anyway! Love you both, chels
Wow, bet you didn't expect that! |

I don't have any gray, of course, so I won't have that problem. Haha. So what is a good type of hair coloring to use? Nonie, weren't you recommending a men's hair color product? I would go to a salon, but it takes too long. Beauticians always say that nothing bought in a drug store works properly. Any recommendations appreciated! I love hearing about new cosmetics and hair products. Also, my allergies are really acting up .. what is a good allergy pill? |
I color my hair myself every six weeks and have been doing so for years - for about $6. I buy the color ($4.60) and the developer
(a $6 bottle lasts for about 10 applications) at Sally's. I was lucky enough to have a stylist tell me what color and developer to buy. Mix the color and developer, apply to dry hair for 30 minutes, shampoo and that's it. Piece of cake. I just go to a stylist to have my hair cut. I have never had a problem. Of course, if you highlight, I don't know how that would work. |
Islandgal,
I have tried that too! Can you tell me what brand color you used? I think because my hair is brown, the cgray shows up much faster, but I wish I could find a color that lasts 6 weeks! Especially in this Florida sun which makes it fade much faster. Of course soon I will be back in the cold dark North and my color wont fade out as fast. What a trade off!:yuck: |

I color Helene's hair and I use Nice and Easy (Permanent) that says, "really covers the gray" on the front. If you drink three glasses of Chivas Regal on the rocks, you will find that your allergies will not bother you. In fact nothing will bother you. (I had to stop that and now take Claritin) |

You all may want to try a shampoo that's specially formulated to enhance the color in between colorings. There's many of them out in the market, I like some of the Redken ones (all Redken products are the best, btw -- since I used to work there!!) The best OTC hair colors are Clairol (for reds) and L'Oreal for lasting ability. But they are getting more and more expensive. I tried the highlighting kits and they worked good but I love the way my colorist foils my hair. She's really creative and its worth the expense for me. I love pampering myself every once in a while. |

I think I can handle that. And I really won't care how it turns out. Wiw, what and where is Sallys? Has anyone found a product that takes away wrinkles and make you look 20years younger? They all claim to do that! And they use models like Diane Keaton to prove it. Of course she is airbrushed and photographed with complimentary lighting. I bought one of the makeup products that Keaton advertises and it was so greasy I had to throw it away. I think Sally Fields (on Brothers and Sisters on Sunday nights) looks so great for 64. Oh, and has anyone discovered a product that actually takes away your appetite? Now that would be a money maker! (I think it is called will power, but I've never actually had any of it). |
Bare,
Sally's is next door - just north of Walmart on 44l. There is a small plaza there with a Dollar Tree and Game stop. That is the only Sally's I know of near The Villages. Sally's is a beauty supply store that sells many products that you cant find at drug stores. They have a large variety of professional hair products and other stuff. |
I decided to experiment and use the kids at the Salon Professional Hair Academy (teaching facility) for a hair color. Very inexpensive. Wish me luck.

The Memorial Stone
Sam died. His will provided $30,000 for an elaborate funeral. As the
last guests departed the affair, his wife Sarah turned to her oldest and dearest friend. "Well, I'm sure Sam would be pleased," she said. "I'm sure you're right," replied Jody, who lowered her voice and leaned in close. "How much did this really cost?" "All of it," said Sarah. "Thirty thousand." "No!" Jody exclaimed. "I mean, it was very nice, but $30,000?" Sarah answered, "The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to the synagogue. The whisky, wine and snacks were another $500. The rest went for the Memorial Stone." Jody computed quickly. "$22,500 for a Memorial Stone? My God, how big is it?" "Two and a half carats." :D |

The last time I had my hair colored I asked for subtle highlights. I hoped for thin little SUBTLE highlights all over sort of like you used to get with a "frosting cap." Remember those? They were like shower caps with tiny holes all over and the stylist pulled your hair through with something like a crochet hook? And remember how much it hurt? But the results were usually worth the pain, at least that's how I remember it. I tried to explain it to my young stylist, but she had never heard of a frosting cap. I didn't want her to USE one, but I wanted results like I used to get with it, so I kept repeating the words "subtle" and "highlights." When she was finished my entire head was a strange, shimmery copper color (much like an astronaut's face mask) with bright white skunk stripes all over the top! WIDE skunk stripes. Yikes! I've been afraid to have it colored again. I don't know what to ask for. Apparently the definitions of subtle and highlights have changed over the years. Does anybody know what the new terminology is? |

Great Story UU Judy! At least you would stand out in a crowd!! I think most beauticians do "their own thing" regardless of what you request. I have a sick dog that I can't leave; so I colored my hair at home and used Perfect 10, which only takes 10 minutes. Sadly, if I use a light brown colour my hair turns coal black. And then I'm forced to use my special trick. Put Head and Shoulders on your hair, cover with saran wrap, and it sucks the colour out of your hair. Of course, then you're back to Square One. There are some downfalls to home coloring. Next time I'm gonna try the Salon Academy. Apparently they only charge $20 for a hair colour. |
Bare, thanks for the tip! If I had known your special trick I could have used it to suck the shimmery copper color out of my hair. I'll remember it for the next time! (And there's always a next time, isn't there? lol)
I saw on the Today Show that there's a new hair color in a pen. It has a fine point and you can use it to draw highlights on your hair. People are also using it to dye their eyebrows. It sounds great, but (of course) I didn't write down the name. I'm so sorry your dog is sick. Hope he's feeling better soon. |
Bare, so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope everything turns out okay. If I can do anything, please let me know.
UU, there are over the counter hair coloring kits that do frosting. I used them a few times and they were great because you can put in as many highlights as you want and position them where you want. Its not hard and it lasts a while. I think the L'oreal or Clairol ones are the best. The new kids are trained only to use foils not the caps any more so they don't get the concept of less is better??? |
