Not much going on except between married couples in the neighborhoods where I am. Sure is a change from Dinkytown in Minneapolis as well as dorm life. Very little difference from BYU Law School and the Villages. If you are not married in BYU you are not getting any action unless it is at the Nevada brothels 90 minutes or so away. I am guessing as I only lasted at BYU Law School ten days not being a Mormon and way too busy to start a whirlwind courtship during the First Year of Law School. Even in that ten days there were unmarried BYU undergraduates trying to reel me into their nets.

Does this REALLY have to be rehashed again? This article has created a lot of embarrassment for a lot of people. I still hear "oh, moving to the villages where sex is wild and std's are everywhere". People that have never been here, believe this.

Even though it's in the "Just for fun" section, I'm not in the least bit amused.

I agree.

Amongst all the accusations of 'bigotry' in this society, bigotry and prejudice against Villagers always seems to be applauded as some kind of a pious 'public service announcement'.

I think prejudice should be confronted in all its forms, and its peddlers should always be set straight.

then again what would you expect of the NY Post?

I'm not sure if the OP realized that the article in the New York Post was published in January 2009.
IMHO, we are overreacting to very old misinformation.
Yes, it lingers, just like the smell of garbage. And we should treat it as such.

That's good; there's more likelihood of acquiring the nuclear launch codes than finding out who cut down the trees.

I lived near there or in one of those large houses broken down into many rooms for rent after graduating from Law School. Also in a house next to a fraternity as well as across from academic housing while living with my then girlfriend Jennifer V., who had been one of my students in Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners. I follow her legal career from a distance now but I will bet she has caught onto my 224 613 Project as I had talked to her quite a lot about the niche in practical information for survivors/victims of crimes and she now is doing something that helps some of these people while in the NE court system. She is a very bright and committed woman.

Jennifer's best friend Sandy H., was a computer programmer at NASA at Cape Canaveral when I met her in 1989. Not sure what happened to Sandy H., after the various cutbacks at NASA. NASA probably caught onto my 224 613 Project rather quickly as they are rocket scientists or others at the top of their games. And I hope that Jennifer followed my "legal hobby" such as it was when it was on Findlaw from mid-2001 through 2006 or so even with the extremely nasty but very effective and creative troll I had on there for much of that time. Some Chesterfield VA creep trying to take on their court system through pro se court representation. The man did have a colossal ego and was fighting various white collar criminal charges. He was very two faced so I had e-mailed him trying to help him for years while at the same time he was sometimes pretending to be me on Findlaw's various message boards as well as using pretty much every other troll trick to get me to respond. I am sure many people found it extremely amusing knowing full well that he was the guy I was helping with his regular handle while he attacked me relentlessly with hundreds of anonymous avatars including variations of my own. He just admitted how he played me for a fool after years of doing so one day on Findlaw's message boards. I did try contacted the Chesterfield County VA PD who simply said they knew the "gentleman" but could not do anything about it because of the First Amendment's right of Free Speech or something like that which the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office pretty much repeated without the knowing him well part, of course.

I did find TOTV in July 2007 which has really helped a great deal with my 224 613 Project mainly because of how well they handle trolls and the like. Facebook is even better as I can post many documents in my 224 613 Project and reach a lot more people.

I have not seen this troll from Findlaw on the Internet at all since 2008.

Tal:

Minneapolis was a good fit for me despite their liberal agenda. Just a great city

I see that the University of Arizona has started to accept the GRE in place of the LSAT to increase applications. The Law School Administration Counci, who develops and controls the LSAT claims Arizona is in violation of the bylaws. The University of Hawaii and Wake Forest are also making the same change by accepting GRE.

I actually hope the change to both LAST and GRE increases applications because we will have more lawyers who will eventually retire to The Villages and work part time defending those villagers that infect other villagers unknowingly with STD's

BPS : I had to add the last part so no one reminded me I was off topic

It seems that some law grads are going into other fields with their law degrees.

I found the people of the Twin Cities extremely nice-- Minnesota nice does fit many of them. They are fairly liberal which was fine by me.

On the topic of the thread, I recall that Leisureville by Andrew Blechman had the same kind of quite skewed few of life in the Villages. Probably because sex sells copies of books, newspaper articles, and magazine articles. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/01/bo.../Leland-t.html

Agree found the Twin Cities to be extremely clean, modern and the people fun loving. Always rebuilding to keep surrounding communities updated. Events occurring in downtown everyday. Winter Carnival last for 30 days with its parades. Pro teams for every major sport. tickets to the St Paul Saints games were harder to get than for the MN Twins. I miss Minneapolis except for the taxes which was the principal reason I moved

I have Blechman's book and met the neighbors he referenced in the book and whom he lived with here just before the book came out. I suspect they were not happy with some of his comments.
The STD thing doesn't interest me as I suspect people understand the hyperbole by those reporting such stats .
