GMR gave us a card and date for the 2nd shot but it did not list a time so I don't know about how that will be done.
I was happy to hear on the radio that GMR will be back and it will be permanent and at the same Buffalo Ridge site.
If you look at your email confirmation with GMR it gives you the date and time of the second shot. Even though the card only gives you the date.

No matter what happens, people will complain.
Yes people will complain, but they would complain a lot less if it had been run efficiently from the beginning. The flu shot comes out of your pharmacy, commonsense tells you they could have done the same with the covid vaccines.

The problem with your suggestion is most pharmacies cannot handle the cold temps the two vaccines require.

I fully understand the problems with storing the vaccine that needs very cold temps, but other States are doing it very well. West Va for instance has local family owned pharmacies handling the vaccine and getting it out to rural areas how do you think they are doing it?

I am hoping the announcement that the new Admin is going to start distributing it to individual pharmacies will help, this is supposed to start this coming eek on the 11 February. We can only hope this will help, until then I guess it is mask up and cross your fingers.

One freezer for mass dose, rural areas. Doses for the day are delivered to each pharmacy, no need for freezer at site. It already in effect and working in many areas. Hospitals with multiple sites are doing the same, one freezer, then using internal delivery person for doses that day.

This system has been in use for transport of cadaver implants for as long as I can remember.

Guess we won't have to worry about our place in line for the vaccinations in The Villages. I used six open browsers today to get an invite on the Publix site. When I finally got on, all the close spots were taken so I managed to get my wife a spot in Deltona and when they allowed me to try a second spot, I got one at the same place for two hours later....tomorrow. I was going to wait for the VA, but just wanted to see if Publix would give me another spot so I took it when offered. We have family coming down next month to visit and they have all had the virus and survived, so I had to make sure that the wife had her shot. She is really concerned about how big the needle is. I have no idea why they are using such large needles, but I am not a medical person. I have given plenty of shots though, and give one to her every month and the needle is very small. Maybe someone on here knows why the vaccination needle is so large? And thick as well as long. No wonder folks are sore when they do it. The idea is usually to relax your arm as much as possible before they insert the needle and it won't hurt as much.

Good grief, where did you hear the needles were really big? I received my first dose with a tiny little needle that I didn’t even feel the injection. Relax your arm at your side and let them do their work.

The injection was painless for me. The pain at the injection site came a bit later and persisted for about four days. A week after the injection, I developed redness which lasted just under a week.

I noticed that today, the Publix site only had 143 appointments for Marion County. Last Friday, they had 1,790. I wonder why? I was able to book 3 appointments for friends, but they were in Volusia County.

The needles used on every video on TV shows them using a needle that should be used on a horse. About two inches long. Doesn't bother me but put a scare into the wife. The needles also appear to be thick. Glad to hear that in reality, the needles are normal. She gets a shot every month so this should be old hat to her.

Hello! I wonder if someone could give me some advice. My dad lives in the Villages and registered for the vaccine through GMR. They have sent him a 5 digit code a couple of times on his phone. Could someone who has done this tell me what that code is for?

The website has 2 Steps. Step 1 to register and Step 2 to make an appointment. I think the Step 1 code has 5 digits and the Step 2 code has 6 digits. So, I don't think you can actually make an appointment with a 5 digit code. You can only do Step 1, which is to use the 5 digit code to register and get on the waiting list.

I received first dose of Moderna yesterday at the Sumter DOH site. My appointment was made by the DOH from the list set up by GMR. I was one of the very next people appointed to get a vaccine through GMR when they ran out of vaccine doses. So Sumter DOH did pick up right where GMR had stopped. We just now received the opportunity from GMR for my wife to sign up for her first dose. She was on the GMR appointment list ( not the registration list) just a day or two after my original appointment with GMR. She is now appointed with GMR again, but for tomorrow and March 4. So they are apparently going in order of original registration.
