Great video that explains a lot about why we're so fat and unhealthy.
It's long, but I enjoyed watching the entire 1:45. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs

This is an effort to bring this back to the top of the threads because I agree with the OP that it is a very informative video. I recently did this (cut sugar and flour from my diet) and aside from losing a LOT of weight, my blood test results have never been better - even in my 20's! I feel much better - less inflammatory problems - and have TONS more energy. If you're interested in improving your health, take the time to watch this documentary. (Not sure why the content warning when you click on the link though.)

Hi, I'm not a "youtube" person; I just did a search: "Reasons why sugar is bad for your health." And I found plenty of reasons, not that I needed convincing. I don't eat processed foods with added sugar. And I don't eat processed carbs that are easily converted to sugar.
Many years ago I read the book, "Sugar Busters" and that gave multiple reasons why sugar is bad for your health. See how the following link compares with youtube: 141 Reasons Sugar Ruins Your Health | Nancy Appleton Books Health Blog However, I should say, I don't need a lot of reasons, I just know that processed sugar is one of the most harmful items a person can add to their diet. It represents "empty calories" and displaces real food. It promotes weight gain and just about every degenerative disease you can think of. My congratulations, Abby10, for cutting out sugar and white flour from your diet. ![]() |

This is from a description of a PetScan:
"PET Scan The positron emission tomography (PET) scan creates computerized images of chemical changes, such as sugar metabolism, that take place in tissue. Typically, the patient is given an injection of a substance that consists of a combination of a sugar and a small amount of radioactively labeled sugar. The radioactive sugar can help in locating a tumor, because cancer cells take up or absorb sugar more avidly than other tissues in the body." Time Magazine Vol.183 #11 2014 has an article on new guidelines offered from the World Health Organization on cutting back on sugar. The article goes on to say that the World Health Organization's Director of Nutrition says it is not realistic for the USA to cut back to their suggested use of sugar. Which I read to say that "they" have decided that we are either too stupid or too addicted to sugar to cut back to a reasonable and healthy amount. Their recommendation is for 5% of ones daily calories to come from sugar; whereas in the USA we consume a full 13% of our caloric intake from sugar. Compare foods from Europe to foods manufactured here in the USA. You will see an enormous difference in sugar content.
