I agree VPL.

I believe the data overwhelmingly favor the "nutritional determinism" argument over the "genetic determinism" argument for many diseases/conditions.

Consider the case of identical twins - they rarely die of the same disease. IF it were due to genes ONLY, they would ALWAYS die of the same disease, where disease caused death (versus accident, etc…)

There are many examples of identical twins from healthy Asian nations where one twin moves to a western country, begins to eat the standard western diet heavy in meat and dairy, and becomes obese and diseased. Meanwhile, the sibling back home remains robustly healthy and free of disease. Obviously, one's nutritional choices have consequences.

Your point is well taken (re the 500th post).
Some people simply do not get it.
I'm referring to threads on diet, nutrition, maladies, etc., etc.,
which are posted by the same person
over and over under the guise of a different subject.

Yes -- enough already!

I find the topic interesting. When there are threads that don't interest me, It's easy enough to skip them.

This has all been discussed over and over and over.....don't think another time would be of any benefit.

Face it, you, like all the rest of us are going to die..and there is nothing that can be done to prevent it by you or anyone else.....best to try and enjoy the relatively few days we all have remaining.

From my point of view, everyone should do what they can to maintain good health. This means we should not just depend on medicine and doctoring to keep us healthy. Keeping trim and mentally and physically fit probably has the most benefit to the most people. Diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, vascular disease and many dementias appear to be less amongst people who are fit and active. Most of these diseases also respond favorably to weight loss and activity. On this forum, we often speak of self "responsibility" for oneself. In my opinion, we should personally do everything within our own power to keep our health. Eat sensibly and maintain a healthy weight. Exercise your brain every day. Live everyday like its your last and you'll never have regrets.
