You can choose to wait for the Perfect time to open up or you can slowly begin the process which is what’s happening. There will not be a perfect time. Stay home if you are concerned. We have got to start reopening this country. The Herd immunity will begin to take effect by getting out into the sunshine.

Everyone will get this virus. Only 100% isolation will keep it from you.

There are millions suffering with zero income and many sit at home fat, dumb and happy. Nope. You are free to stay home but the others must get back to work (you do realize payroll taxes fund medicare, et. al., right?)

Another thing.....are we going to close down again next year? the year after? You realize sooner or later we will be hit again with another flu epidemic, right? Next time, nothing closes. You have to trust people will take precautions to protect themselves (like we have before) and others can stay at home again fat dumb and happy if they want. Otherwise, it's goodbye USA and by that time you probably should learn to speak Chinese.
The point of closing down and having all these restrictions isn't to stop the virus. It's to slow it down, and give science and the medical community time to create a vaccine and discover safe treatments for people who come down with it.

That way even if it does return next season, we will have the tools to manage it. Not necessarily cure it, and not prevent it 100% but MINIMIZE the risk, MINIMIZE the suffering, MINIMIZE the deaths that result from it.

We have no way of doing that currently except to shut things down and keep everyone away from each other. That obviously isn't something we can do long-term. It is a temporary pause so they can come up with something better, for the next time it happens.

Lake/Marion/Sumter: Population is 855,000, 678 cases, 33 deaths - if you discount prison cases and nursing home/assisted living facilities, that's 93 of the cases in Lake and Sumter. So, ah likes mah chances....

So we are not eating lunch out or having our hair cut and know that people will do what they want.

I am telling you right now, if I know you and care about you and you go out and catch this damn bug, and you die...………………..I am not wearing my BEST dress to your memorial service next year.
After staying home this long, it probably wont fit anyway. I know my suit will be a little tight!

Walked by City Fire in Sumter yesterday around 3pm and people generally were 6ft apart and moved seatc close to outside railing along the sidewalks. Some people were closer sitting table, but appeared to be husband & wives. When two couples the couple were seperated by 6ft away from the other couple. Looked pretty good to me, same at Red Sauce. It was good to see people enjoying the day with friends relatives over something to eat and a couple drinks.

Observed the same later in the evening, had a wonderful dinner al fresco at Chophouse. Took a walk after and people were respectful to keep their distance. A small group was dancing in unison individually and properly separated at the square.

Overall a reasonable compromise for the paradoxes around this virus from hell.

Your flu stats are for one year, your covid 19 stats are for how many weeks, not one year?

Not my stats, they are from NCHS and CDC

Title of Table 1:

Table 1. Deaths involving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), pneumonia, and influenza reported to NCHS by sex and age group. United States. Week ending 2/1/2020 to 5/2/2020 Updated May 8

These are provisional stats, numbers for each will go up as death certificates are turned in.

If we don't open, we will be a third world country and those deaths will be just the beginning.

First of all I'm sorry that you are going through chemotherapy, my wife is also and we are scared to go anywhere because of her very weakened immune system. That said, why the heck would you go into a recreation center and sit in the pavilion if you are "IMMUNOLOGICALLY SUPPRESSED DUE TO CHEMO"? Really? So, you needed your sustenance and you thought going into a recreation center and sitting there would give you that sustenance? I hope you recover without any complications from your chemotherapy.

More than 50% of all deaths are from 4 states. More than 50% of US counties have zero deaths from Covid 19.
