I did email the owner and got an answer. He claims that they do spray outside every morning and put poison fly bait (?) under the bushes and trees. He said he has tried every remedy he knows but nothing has helped and is just hoping that time will fix the problem.

I wonder why he has not taken this matter up with a professional exterminating company like Massey.
You received an email from the owner? Hit that reply button with your Massey suggestion, maybe he can tell you if he has or has not contacted a pro. He knows the answer better than anyone reading this forum.

I love it here in the Villages. No going back for me either.

We had bug/fruit fly problems when seated inside @ Cody's - very bothersome also - this is the only restaurant we've eaten at in the 2 weeks we've been here that's had this problem ... don't plan a return trip

If you go to Cody's, you should expect some small flying friends. The bar windows are wide open, and right on the water. That's the price you pay for an open air bar.

The Parrot Heads were at Mallory last night outside. There were flies there as well. They are all over the Villages. Hopefully they'll die down soon.

Given the feeding process of flies methinks I prefer to avoid them like the plague

I understand that Massey is the go to company for pest control. I saw a lot of good things about them on here. Maby the owner should let the PROs do what they do best.

Your spot on,People are crazy thinking at this time of year you can stop this from happening.Maybe they should have Massey put a man at each Rest.with a swatter and bug spray.

In the Ozarks the last few days. Yep, they had flies too. I've read most of the posts regarding these flies in The Villages----some really make me chuckle! Are we all too old to remember going on a picnic? Folks, when you are "outside" and have food----there are flies and yes, they are worse certain time of the year. My mother use to say "if you don't bother them----they won't bother you! Dad always said, @#$%!#@ and being the oldest sibling I said "get over it Sis----they don't eat much."

Yes summer brings flies, but this ios more than just flies in summer. They really have a serious problem there. You have to be there to know what I'm talking about.

as more folks move in, more and more pesticides will be used and will kill off the fly population.

It will just be a matter of time when they decide to enclose the outside bar area..
