We have lots of 5 Guys here in VA. Love their burgers. We usually get 2 smalls, small fry and 2 drinks. More than enough for the two of us.

Five Guys started as independently owned in Northern Virginia in 1986. They did so well, they franchised in 2002. They are now in 625 locations in some 40states and 4 Provinces in Canada. Yummie. We discovered them when we lived in Northern Virginia.

While in NC we discovered a place better than Five Guys. Same type of entrepreneurship. Privately owned. Seventy-five locations in NC. It is called Cook-out. Grilled hamburgers with creamery premium milkshakes.

Two people can get a a main item and two sides, yes two sides, plus a drink for under $10. You can upgrade your drink to a home-made milkshake for under $11 for two people.

They just opened their first store in SC this summer. I'm hoping they keep moving south to Florida.

One of our employees calls them 'Five dead guys' and recommends a faster way to bliss for a cholestrophile....
Maybe someone will open up a location in TV?

What we meant by 'when one Leaves"'
was Leaves the living!"

Back in the 60's it was well over 100 where i worked in a mower shop.
The boss's son was a 'chain Coke-R'[ and would go through one 6-oz bottle after another

We knew that it was a powerful beverage back then in excess (even though it was cane not Corn based)

When we called him on the habit, he said....

We waited on line about 45 minutes, but it was well worth the wait!

Wife nor I get it with 5 Guys.

To us, it's very expensive for what you get. Sure tons of fries that we aren't supposed to eat anyway and an average tasting burger for like $10 each. You can get a real meal at Red Lobster for $7.99.

Wife says she would rather eat crackers at a gas station than 5 Guys again (and we have tried 4 different 5 Guys stores). Certainly nothing special.

Just saying we don't get the hype for whatever our opinion is worth.

I personally think 5 Guys makes an excellent burger and fries was thrilled when we found one in TV last month. No where on the menu did I find a $10 burger. Now I realize it's a matter of personal preference, but where grew up, New Bedford, Ma., Red Lobster would be the last place to go for a real seafood dinner. As a matter of fact, they built one here and it closed down in a couple of years

I just cannot believe not one negative feed on 5 guys. It was the greasiest burger I have had since having White Castles. We got it - and the grease was dripping out of it. People tell me that is uncommon - since it was the first and only time we went there - I assumed that the burgers were always this way.

Will NOT go back - we always said you could squeeze white castles and watch the grease drip - didn't have to squeeze the ones at 5 guys - it was dripping in the wrapper.

Were we there on a bad night????
