Will NOT go back - we always said you could squeeze white castles and watch the grease drip - didn't have to squeeze the ones at 5 guys - it was dripping in the wrapper.

Were we there on a bad night????
Hmmmm Nothing like a nice juicy burger. I give it two thumbs up.

Default We were shocked! at Five Guys!

We bought our Villages home on Friday morning (Pennecamp) and celebrated with a burger at Five Guys for lunch. We immediately thought it was certainly among the best burgers we've ever had. They dripped like crazy and were wonderful! I think we earned about six hours on the treadmill, but it was worth it!

Whether you like them or not, they have been written up for having the most UNhealthy french fries (with McDonalds as the best for you). Tasty, different, and yes, super-fattening!

Default 5 guys

I think they are great and so does Phil Mickleson as I read that he had bought a few franchises because In and Out Burger ones were not available

Sorry, I didn't mean to burst anybody's bubble here. I imagine the food does taste good, but if you're at all interested in healthy choices, my body is a temple, etc., you might want to pass on 5 Guys.

On another note, we went to a really cool restaurant in Tampa recently called Seasons52. They have a website at seasons52.com The goal is to provide farmer's market freshness, appropriate portion sizes, and every menu item is less than 475 calories. The food was wonderful, about the best meal I've had in a long time. I wish they'd offer something like that in The Villages, but not sure if the demographic here would support something like that.

I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars on my pot belly. To give it 475 calories for a complete meal would cause me to go into low blood sugar shock. He He He

BTW: Is Five Guys a sit down restaurant with waiters/waitresses? Or is it a cafeteria type restaurant (Like Panara's or Crisper's)? And are the hamburgers really $10 each?

I am going to find out before this day is out. This is just like being told NOT to wear lipstick when I was 12.

I have to try it.

I have only been twice at two different locations and there were no servers. Don't remember the cost but it didn't break the bank.

I am a health conscious person who watches what he eats and exercises almost every day. I am in great health with good blood pressure and I take no medicines.
That being said, a few times a year I treat myself to a nice juicy burger and fries. I don't feel guilty because I know it is not part of my regular eating lifestyle.

Had to get that off my chest, I'll step off the soap box now.

5 Guys doesn't have wait staff, you order at the counter and they call you # when you meal is ready. Burgers are about $5 for a double with free toppings and are excellent.

Bruce & Carol,
Congrats on your new home. We also just closed in Pennecamp in July on Ashwood Run. We didn't celebrate with 5 Guys but have visited there many times in NJ as a special treat for lunch. NJ even has free refills on drinks plus the peanuts are a nice touch. We buy the small cheeseburger's and 1 large fry and 2 small drinks and that fills us for around $14.

P.S. Pat I see your hanging around another food posting. I think I've found where your problem lies!!!!!!

Nailed it salpal...short & sweet

And only an occassional indulgence at that...until we (if ever) find a better burger & fries joint.
