Default Hometown cooking?

speckled butter bean is a really great place for breakfast. Inexpensive specials and the best hometown grits i have had for a southern meal.

Alfie's $3.99 plus drink. Take C-25 East in Belleview about 3 miles on left.

After reading all these posts and have been to most of them we decided to try something new and went to Athens. WOW!!! $3.99 for a full breakfast and it was as good as any I've had. The food was plentiful, service good, and we sat on the patio enjoying the early morning temperatures. It don't get any better than that.

Perkins Restaurant has "The Magnificent Seven" for only $4.99.
It has two eggs, two sausage links or bacon and three pancakes.
They bring out 3 syrups, with one of the syrups being heated.
You will NOT find this listed on their menu.
You have to ask for it.
The pancakes are about the best around.
Also, they serve breakfast all day long at Perkins.

Perkins is undoubtedly one of our favorites if not "the' favorite. The only complaint I have is that it's darn near impossible leaving there without taking home a pie, or éclairs, a half dozen mixed muffins or some cookies.

Sonrise is another place we stopped at within the last few weeks. We throughly enjoyed the food we were served, but I personally had a problem there. The chairs inside were too small for me to sit comfortably, but fortunately there were a few outside where I could be comfortable... if only it were a little less chilly at the moment. An enjoyable experience anyway.

Athens - Despite one complaint about the restrooms there recently, we did stop there a few days back in the morning and sat at at a table outside. Food was pretty good and the only [word removed *] negative experience was that there was a lady sitting behind my wife puffing away on a cigarette and it was drifting by my wife. I'm not even sure if she was going to have something to eat or if she was just sitting there without concern for anyone else around her. Gotta try Toojays across the street from Athens for breakfast sometime!

Don't know what NKIV is expecting, but for $6.99 (new advertised price) you can't go wrong...hot buffet, fruit bar and omelet station...all you can eat!

I only read a few threads on this post but I didn't see if anyone mentioned that the village eatery is closed. Drove by there on my way to Winn-Dixie today and it is gone.

While I may have been "out of the loop" for several days, I remain firmly convinced that the very best breakfast place is (and has always been) my own kitchen!

Where else can you happily enjoy the bacon that you, yourself, burned? Where else can you happily enjoy "two, sunny-side up," eggs which you've managed to burn around the edges?

Etc., etc., etc., etc.?
