Default Red sauce owner unfair

My wife was hired at the Red Sauce for a hostess position. She worked one day and decided not to accept the job because she was offered a position at a restaurant in The Villages that treats its female employees with respect. Ever since then Rick the owner refuses to pay my wife for the one day that she did work. Rick then verbally assualted my wife outside his restaurant and called her a "bimbo waitress like the rest of my crew" after trying to collect her wages for the one day. Seems to me like he he hates women and thinks females are a inferior being. Please be cautious of this man.

If he owes her wages and verbally abused her take it to the Labor Relations Board. If she doesn't have any witnesses on the assault, she most likely won't go far with that one. But she will get her money.

I learned a long time ago labor relations will not do any thing for you unless you have a contract with a company just give it up. Also I don't know why any one would eat at Red Sauce the food is awful. No I don't work there and I have no stake in any part of it . It is just the food is awful.

DDoug, I don't know what your past experience has been with the Labor Relations Board, but if you have a legitiment dispute with wages they will assist you in getting your pay.

For one day's wages I would sue in small claims court. I have no idea what the "full story" is on this, but if she worked for just 1 hour, she is entitled to that pay and there is no possible excuse for her not getting it. Heck....call 1-800-Judge Judy!

This is Bonnie Mangione I am very upset with the owner of the red sauce, mind you I have always been a loyal customer and am new here at the villages so have been really taken back with enjoying sitting outside in the middle of winter and lets face it the red sauce has made it very comfortable to do so. I was offered a job at the red sauce in september lucky for me I was offered 2 other jobs in the same week. And making this very hard to decide but I attended a employee meeting and worked a 6.5 hr shift at the red sauce and enjoyed it very much, however after a couple of hrs there that day I was informed to beware of how I will be treated by the owner, now that wasnt the first time I was warned but it was just hard for me to believe because I have always had a very nice relationship with all of the people from there including the owner. At this point in time I decided to take another job I am 56yrs old and the last thing I need is a stressful job rick said he understood and said sometimes its better to have a good customer verses a good employee. Since then I have gone there a dozen times asking for my pay check I have even spoke to rick and he said he was sorry and would get that done for me. Well last nite I happened to see him and OMG he was irrate telling me I got my check told me to come into the office he will check once I got in there he became irrate again yelling at me and telling me I got paid and I was probley drunk when I cashed it and just dont remember he would not stop when I walked out he followed me through the resturant and outside where he continued with my husband and I. Now im from buffalo new york so I found it very hard to keep my mouth shut but he didnt care refered me as a bimbo employee of his the whole thing was unbelieveable and im not even sure who i spoke with last nite cause that is not the rick I have known since May 2011 he looked at me like he didnt even no me. And just for the record I have never Been Drunk at the red sauce I am the dd for car and cart so I am baffeled but I want MY CHECK, work is work YOU DONT HAVE TO LIKE ME just pay me, PS I am so glad I choose the right job God works in strange ways. And to all that have jobs NO ONE has to take verbal or any abuse from your employer you can help to stop it. Not sure what to do next but I cant let it go its not the money its the principle and lack of respect.

Exclamation Principle

I have often said that it is much more easy to deal with a person over money as opposed to "principle". Good for you Bonnie. It would be worth going to Small Claims since he must provide a copy of the check he paid you and supporting proof. Rest assured we will not use Red Sause as a restaurant.

Cool

I don't mean to be cold hearted, but why post this on TOTV. Obviously, no one on here can correct this grievance. It only serves to make folks not want to patronize an establishment, who may or may not be at fault. We only get one side of the story...

Sorry, I just don't get it...

For what it's worth, I would be inclined to let it go, rather than prolong the frustration and emotional upset making a claim with the labor board and following through with what's required. (been there, done that.)

Even if her hourly wage was $40, clearing your aura and being free of the negativity of regurgitating the unpleasantness is, in my opinion, worth far more than a few bucks. Letting go of the need for 'justice' is also quite liberating.

Was she treated with poor business etiquette? Absolutely.
Did her quitting leave him in the lurch during holiday season? Most probably.

This experience has provided the contrast to help your bride decide where she really prefers to work. That's the gift.

Bonnie, these posts are doing you more harm than good, especially for such a small sum of money.

It is not worth it to put a rant out on internet against an employer, where all employers look for indications of a job applicant's character.

I would go to small claims court with the claim, and I would ask for this thread to be removed so it doesn't live on for years, affecting your reputation.

Small claims court? Seriously? How much could she be paid for 6 hrs at Red Sauce as a hostess? Even if everything she said is 100% accurate (and quite frankly I can't imagine there aren't two sides to this story) would you waste your time for $50-60?.

She has her revenge by these posts. Although it won't stop me from going to Red Sauce.
