That is your opinion - mine is different. That's what makes the world go round, the world go round, the world go round.

Just curious. Do the people that object to dogs at outdoor restaurants avoid dining at the homes of friends with dogs?

"There is a time and place for everything and taking your pet to the store or a restaurant is not appropriate unless of course they are a bona-fide service animal."

...and how are you going to tell if the dog is a "bona-fide service animal?

As stated several times on this thread, you can buy the service dog vest and fake credentials off the Internet.

Just suck it up. If you see a dog in a restaurant area, exercise your free choice and either stay or leave. No one is forcing you to be where you do not want to be.

Y'know, when I see an excessive amount of exclamation points I sometimes think the poster could use a little something to take the edge off. How does your shrink feel about this?

Fantastic theory......especially the licking themselves and then licking the humans face... .

A dog is an "individual"??? vis a vis humans being described as individuals.
As individuals used here explains why some dog owners walk their dogs in baby carriages

Rubicon, you kind of lost me with all the "vis a vis'. In any case, my post that you quoted was written several days ago and it was in response to specific comments from other posters. To quote it now outside of the context in which it was written is unfair. For instance, my mention of the "individuality" of dogs was in response to a couple of posts that purported to "know" what makes all dogs happy. Dogs DO have unique breed traits and personalities, and based on those personalities, they like or dislike doing different activities. So a blanket statement such as "your dog is happier when left home", is not true for all dogs.

As far as "no dog signs", I've seen several "service dogs only" signs. Yes, I read the statement that Cody's was the only establishment that had a permit. Are you sure that information is current and/or correct? I don't know...don't really care.

Being able to take her with us to our dinner location prevented me from feeling guilty for leaving her in the crate for a couple more hours. Thank you Red Sauce!

Ever heard of Coprophagia, it a dog thing... and all dogs will do it as it is in their nature being the animals they are.

This may be why some people are not so thrilled about having dogs licking around on them or sharing their dinner table.

Yes, I've heard of it. And no, not all dogs do it, does "your pitt bull" do it?

They will all do it, it's a natural instinct , and yes he will if given the chance...but I don't let him ever lick my face.. If you own a dog you just have to know they will do it.

I guess we would also like to think the special dogs here don't lick themselves clean too but that is also not true..

It is a totally natural thing for dogs to do as noted in this link and that is why they do it. Pigs do it naturally and chickens love it, dogs sometimes prefer it to dog food as mentioned too;

Coprophagia

Why Dogs Eat Poop - The 5 Primary Causes

This activity is just a natural thing for dogs but we need to remember this when others are not happy about having other people's dogs in their face and at their tables. I don't take my dog to restaurants or the squares (YET) as he would likely like to have a couple of the smaller dogs for his dinner.

Oh, you really have a pit bull? That surprises me. I just assumed you were making a joke as I've never heard a responsible bully breed owner make a comment like you did in post #31, even as a joke, considering the problems the breeds are up against. Well, enjoy your pooch and hopefully he'll grow out if his problem. Most pups do.

Don't do jokes and be surprised I guess, we all know what assume does, and now you have heard it and I didn't say he was a pup, he is just new to me, and it not just a pup problem, stop kidding yourself and face the fact that yours will do it too, any dog will.. dogs do what dogs naturally do...

Bully breeds rule... Loves to ride on a motorcycle....
