I mostly eat burgers so like my husband says "she is a expert". I love McDonalds but I have gone to Beef O Bradys and it was very good...DO NOT GO TO PALMER they can't make a burger to save them..Ruby Tues. are ok but I have gotten a frozen patti there.

Try Chiles....always good, not expensive and fries are always hot...sit in bar for free chips & salsa...De De Dog house may be good but who wants to spend over $8 for a burger without fries...they will not be open long

When craving a burger I opt for the nearest local bar. To me, they make the best ones.

I hope White Castle never comes anywhere close to TV. I love those little things and it would be the death of me cause I'd find myself eating way too many of them. White Castle also has the best mozzarella cheese sticks and I haven't found anywhere else that makes them better. And those onion chips...oh my gawd...so delicious! (heartburn to the max)
Nope...don't want White Castle in TV...no way!

Brightspot01, We still have a few White Castles left in the NY Metro area. Like yourself I have an occasional craving for them. But after I had a few I feel tremendous guilt knowing they can't be any good for you. There was another similar hamburger chain in NYC when I was a kid, White Tower. Don't know if they were owned by White Castle. In stead of 12 cents, the White Tower burgers were probably .50 cents each. George

gryoung: Never heard of White Tower so looked it up on Wikipedia. Says it is considered an imitator of White Castle. Also says we have them in Detroit but I've never seen one or eaten at one. But...I don't go to Detroit.

We have White Castles here in Michigan but luckily the closest one is 20 miles away in Ann Arbor and I frequent it maybe twice a year is all. I heard they were building one in a town only 8 miles from me but am seriously hoping that is only a rumor....and I mean seriously cause I'm in that town on a weekly basis!

Oddly enough, White Castle originated in Wichita, Kansas...where I was born and raised. Funny, growing up....never tried it!

White Castle with the five little holes gets my vote. Used to go to the Bronx to get really good ones.

I like Outbacks burgers, but when I want a juicy messy one - then it is McD.

If you are making your own burger at home, add some "Dales Sauce" to the raw meat before cooking. It's in the condiment aisle at most local stores. It is delicious on steaks and chicken also. I also use "Montreal Seasoning" on my burgers, steaks and chicken. It's great.
Another staple is Callendars Greek Seasoning. I buy the salt free version. You can put it on or in a burger, deviled eggs, soups, etc. Delicious.

Default Steak & Shake Or Ruby Tuesday Gets My Vote

Those little minis with a big salad at Ruby Tueday are terrific. But there is a unique flavor to a big boy Steak And Shake with a chocolate malt. Yum!

Default Steak & Shake

I agree on the Steak & Shake. It's not Winsteads, but it's close. Just needs a thinner, greasier bun. Love the big slice of pickle and the thick onion. Their fries are pretty good, too.

Never tried Steak and Shake before but will next time in TV. Gonna be hard to fit it into my Weight Watchers diet, though...I can only imagine how many calories are in one of their hamburgers!

There can't be many calories in the burger itself. It's almost paper thin. The bun, cheese, and other add-ons might kick it up. As I said, I love 'em, but if you want to get your teeth into the meat, you gotta get at least a double. Their chili 3 and 5-ways is also quite good. And the fries. And the shakes. Damn, it's dinner time and I'm hungry.

Here's their menu: http://www.steaknshake.com/menu/menu.asp

Steak and Shake website says its double original hamburger is only 32 calories....I don't think so.
