we had a wonderful lunch there last winter. But if Gocubsgo manages a bakery in Wildwood, I would go try it if they'll name it. I'm all for keeping it local.

I stopped going when my bread roll slipped from my hands, fell to the ground, and shattered in ten pieces

I only have gone there one time and we bought a loaf of bread and three servings of sweet rolls and one other thing.

It was expensive and I personally prefer the bakery at Publix. BUT I was expecting the bread to be yummy and it wasn't as fresh as I'd hoped and the dough in the sweet rolls wasn't "yeasty", it was more like phyllo dough which isn't what I personally prefer. Perhaps more French than German I guess.

So ....we all can't love the same stuff. It just may be YOUR favorite place for baked stuff.

Publix bread is very good. I know their bread is made there, not frozen or processed. I agree with graciegirl...Yahala's dough was more European with layered dough rather than the yeast sweet dough's we are used to.

I think it's a preference. We spent a lot of years living overseas and we like the thick, heavy, dense bread for a change of pace. Also the pasteries are not so sweet and I like that.

European breads and pastries for us too - love Yalaha's product. Price is very compatible with Publix Artisan Breads. Also, Publix dough comes in frozen from somewhere - who knows where the dough is made - and then baked in the bakery at Publix. I would not call Publix a bakery if they are not actually making the item from scratch. Same as Fresh Market, frozen dough and they bake it.

We went to their bakery on Rt.441 near Sears last week or so for their opening in that location. They were packed with folks out the door. Everything looked yummy but we were not impressed with the taste of the carrot cake which was too sweet and heavy and the cranberry cookies which were crumbly and had a weird taste like they were made with lard. I didn't ask about the lard but I have a friend who makes a lot of her pasteries with lard. Not a flavor we like. Sorry, we won't be back. Glad others like them. Will go to Publix for our bakery needs.

have not been to yalaha bakery for a few years; while the product was good, it was not excellent, and so overpriced, especially for a place being out in the sticks.
i do not know if i will ever go to their new location in summerfield.

Went to he Summerfield location last Sat. We were so very glad they came closer to TV! Being from Chicago where I grew up with ethnic bakeries every few blocks I much prefer the European baked goods! Yes it is pricey but we have been buying their Rustic Multi Grain bread for years driving all the way to their main bakery just to get it. It's very healthy and 1 slice fills you up for breakfast! Loved their pastry, tried the Lemon mixed berry slice also and it was to die for. Everything is so fresh, and most things are not loaded with sugars like the grocery store stuff is which I do not consider real bakery goods. I hope they make it here because their breads and rolls are to die for. Tried the Pretzel Cheese rolls and omg they didn't need anything on them so good! So thankful to have an alternative to grocery store baked goods!

Honestly? Not me because I don't do any shopping in bakeries. But if someone said they have a truly healthy bread or other baked item, I might give it some consideration.

From my experience, whenever I have asked someone, the so called healthy breads are not 100% whole grain. They are just designed to look and sound healthy. And a neighbor once told me, "If it's fresh baked, it's healthy!"

I agree. That's kind of like wondering why you see so many fat people at Dunkin' Donuts.

Now that's funny! Can I add Beef O Brady's to that list?
