Last year, Publix eliminated the paper number system for using the deli. I haven't talked to anyone who thinks this was a good idea. Most people hate it.
Today, I went through the Express lane. It used to say: "Express, 10 items or fewer". Now, it just says "Express". I asked what this means, and the customer service woman said that it means, if you want to go through the lane faster, you can use the express lane. Really? Who thinks this is a good idea? |

It just happened this week at the Colony Plaza store, where I shop. And, yes, to me, it is a definitely a problem. I use the express lane almost every day.

Could this become a complementary thread to the trash thread?

I’ll be glad when Walmart neighborhood store opens real close to me. IMO Publix that also close to me with Walmart less than 1/2 away will probably loose at least 1/2 customers. But, I hope it don’t close cause there are few thing I like and occasionally go to deli. I agree the line draw number removal sucks. I’m guessing it was too much trouble putting number ticket tape in? In the far north luckily Publix nowhere as busy as in the massive overpopulated areas.
![]() There really no order in line. Eventually there will be Karen problems. As for checkout lines, with two or 3 items I have I just got to lotto/service desk and check out. Also, if neighborhood Walmart has liquor store that will definitely cut Publix liquor sales by guessing 2/3s. I never seen liquor so high. Glad I’m not drunk!!! ![]()

Self checkout lanes usually go pretty quickly. I don’t understand why Publix does not allow you to pay cash at the self checkout, but rather they make you use a credit card which public has to pay a percentage on every time the card is used. How does this make sense?

Yep, Publix has been an abject failure as a business due to the "stupid people" running it. (sarcasm, Sheldon, sarcasm)

I always use self checkout. No standing in lines. No stranger touching everything I take home. Much much quicker process. I like bagging my own groceries. I’ve never understood why people like checkout lanes over self checkout.
