Yes we get it people. Many of you hate Publix for various reasons. I bet many of you get together at Katie Belles to do your bashing of a successful business. Isn't it great that in this country we have many choices we can make without having to make other feel guilty about their choices. Some of us love chevys, others love Toyota. To each their own. Time to find a new hobby and move on.

I would just point out that almost all successful businesses, including Publix, actively seek out feedback from their customers about their products and service. That is how businesses become successful.

geez, everyone needs to remember:

what's good for a corporation is seldom good for customers and employees.

what's good for customers and employees is seldom good for the corporation.

corporatism loves monopolies, which is what my MBA taught me is the winning prize in business.

good luck to us!

It might work out well. We will all have to wait and see.

I have been going to Publixes since 1996. Many different ones.

Default Self checkout is on its way out.

Some stores are removing self checkout. It dramatically increases “shrinkage”, aka retail theft.

First of all, I don't want to take a job away from a person. Second of all, I have vision problems and I like dealing with a person, not a machine.

that decision is area dependent.

I have seen both. with and without, in adjacent towns, with very different socio-economic conditions. .

What doesn't make sense is using the self-check lanes to do a whole basket full of groceries! There just isn't room to begin with...the fact that they weren't designed for this aside, it's just rude. It's supposed to be quick. There were three such individuals at Magnolia the other day. I opted for a regular line. At least they know what they're doing.

um, not when cost reductions are necessary for profit growth which determines bonuses. .
you worked in govt too long, and aren't jaded enough by corporatism profit goal decisions. .

You do realize your stuff's been touched UMPTEEN TIMES since it left the factory, correct? So that shouldn't be a concern.

As it should. It's called capitalism. If people don't like it they are free to move to China where they dont even have supermarkets.

Who thinks this is a good idea?
Bizarre. Maybe there has been a fight regarding the exact amount of items someone had in the express lane?!!

If so, the new policy will only encourage more "fights". The old policy allowed up to 10 items. What was to fight about, unless people can't count to 10?

Heh - tell me you've never been a regular supermarket shopper without telling me you've never been a supermarket shopper.

So here's what to fight about:

11 items, because "it's just one more, no one will care."
12 items, same reason, but the 12th item is mismarked and they have to stop everything while another employee goes to the grocery aisle to check the tag.
40 items, but 30 of them are for the same thing - different flavors.
40 items, but 30 of them are for the same thing - same flavor, but the manager says cashiers have to ring each item individually.
25 items, because the express line was empty and the cashier said to c'mon over - and immediately after she starts ringing out the customer, 4 more people get into the express line with only 1-6 items each.
