"The sudden collapse of nonprofit health plans supported by tens of millions of dollars in Obamacare loans is igniting a new political wildfire over the health law — and it’s playing out in a tight gubernatorial race in Kentucky.
The recent demise of Kentucky Health Cooperative, a nonprofit startup seeded with federal loan dollars under the Affordable Care Act, is part of a bigger, national trend. More than a third of the 23 nonprofit health plans created under Obamacare with $2.4 billion in federal loan dollars have collapsed, and most experts predict more failures on the horizon. Late last week, South Carolina’s co-op became the ninth to fail, following similar crashes in Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska and New York." Read more: GOP seizes on collapse of Obamacare co-ops - POLITICO "Obamacare customers are facing an average 7.5 percent price increase for a key benchmark health plan next year, according to limited data the Obama administration released just days before the start of a challenging enrollment season. But the average rate hikes will vary dramatically from state to state — skyrocketing more than 30 percent in Alaska, Montana and Oklahoma while dropping 12.6 percent in Indiana." Read more: Obamacare rates to rise 7.5 percent next year - POLITICO "The math is harsh: The federal penalty for having no health insurance is set to jump to $695, and the Obama administration is being urged to highlight that cold fact in its new pitch for health law sign-ups. That means the 2016 sign-up season starting Nov. 1 could see penalties become a bigger focus for millions of people who have remained eligible for coverage, but uninsured. They’re said to be squeezed for money, and skeptical about spending what they have on health insurance." Fine for Not Having Health Insurance Is Going Up |

Yea "but you had to pass it before you could see what was in it" Believe it or not health insurance cannot cover everything everyone wants. Yet that is what Obamacare does and so to reach that goal premium has to be extraordinary. In reality the population has to have healthy people who will offset the cost of less healthy individuals and some things are just no insurable but that is not Obamacare. However many people see insurance as an unending fountain of money springing forth to pay for anything and everything they deem their entitlement. Obamacare essentially is socialism and sooner or later you run out of other peoples money (Margaret Thacher) Personal Best Regards: |

Obama is getting his wish to destroy America before he leaves office. Does anyone else wonder what additional surprises he has in store for us as he wields his EO pen?

It does make you wonder a lot....
,,,,,what if this was done in the open instead of behind closed doors with the insurance industry. .....what if this was done in concert with the opposition and the american public instead of jammed through...such a major bill. ,,,,,what if the WH had not paid off Louisiana and it had stalled and needed some concessions to pass. and most importantly as pointed out..... What if Democrats in congress who passed it had read it and understood it before passing ???? |

In any case, I surely hope that first of all, being aggressive will not be necessary, but if it is, I hope the changes being made will make them (Republicans) stand up to this stuff. |

Democrats and republicans alike....gutless, linguine spined, ball less, self centered puppets of self interest, special interest and minority interests. Do you know anybody that gets to keep such a high paying, full of benefits job forever....with a less than 10% performance approval rating. Elitist prima donnas that the electorate is stupid enough to allow them to remain in office. We the people stand idly by....the so called represtatives stand idly by and the loose cannon in the WH just rolls all over what ever he pleases. A disgusting shameful state of affairs! |

Too many are focused on the bally hoo of what ACA is supposed to do.
They have no concept of the impact on costs, infra structure, facilities, services. As the millions are added at low or no cost and the insurance companies have to start paying out more to serve them they will be raising rates that will make what we have seen thus far look small. For the average person who is satisfied with today's benefits they will have to continue to pay higher premiums or add supplemental coverages to keep the level they are accustomed to having. More doctors will be dropping out and going to private practices outside the mass insurance circle......premium for coverage to be paid. And so on. Is there no recognition of the cost and other impacts of dumping millions more on an already taxed system? If you don't like waiting your turn in the office today....or waiting three months or more for an appointment......or get turned down for a procedure because you are too old.....just remember it is the best it will ever be right now and continue to worsen. WAKE UP! |

The private coops established by the ACA were opposed by most progressive organizations. They were instituted as a diluted option instead of single payer option or direct government provision of coverage. They were designed to compete with private insurance giants with a start up grant. Coops are owned by the insured individuals but being small never had a chance against the Aentas and Cignas and Humanas. They were unable to attract enough enrollment to compete. That a few small coops have failed as was predicted by many is hardly a blip on the ACA landscape. The regulations which allowed the creation of coops also required them to be able to pay their bills like any insurer, but because they were small there was a large risk of failure, like a small credit union against big banks, with no government back up or rescue. Thus consumers wouldn't join as the risk of the "insurance" company disappearing was too great. Stupid idea hatched by Max Baucus to placate the conservative element in Congress hoping it might get some GOP or blue dog support. Not easy to start up a new insurance company in the complex health care environment.

ACA another example of progressives over reach and one in which they knew, were told, would have serious consequences. But like spoiled children "no" is micro-aggressive to use one of their terms. "No"to the elite liberal intelligentsia is suggest that you are smarter than them and clearly the elite liberal all others are substantially intellectually beneath them. They fail then in their own arrogance and arrogance's sister is ignorance.

Of course the liberals will blame the GOP for not supporting obamacare and therefore caused it to fail. They won't admit that it is totally flawed and that was the reason they received no support for it to begin with. They even had to bribe their own side to vote for it.

The 2016 rates for my health care plan at work just came out. 13% increase with no changes to the plan. Inflation is pretty close to zero.
