Today I forgot my wife's and my IDs. My fault and I know we have to show our IDs.
I asked for consideration, NO. All I had was my name on first class mail, a cart that had both our first names on it. He said no, I then offered him both our cell phones to hold until I came back after golf with the IDs. Still NO.

Do the starters have any wiggle room to allow a golfer to tee off with a promise to come right back with the proper ID? Have any of you ever been allowed to tee off on a free golf course with the trail fees paid (they know this from the sign in sheet) when you forgot your ID?
I have been playing both champion and exec courses here for over a year and I must state that prior to today every single starter, ambassador and pro shop personnel have all been great, helpful and CONSIDERATE.

For sure I will never forget our IDs again

Don't feel that you are alone. They won't allow you to play without the ID. I have forgotten mine and another time our neighbor forgot hers. Both times No.

I imagine it would be difficult to be the person to have to enforce this rule. I hope they weren't rude, but they don't make the rules. I am sorry you had a bad time.

I've been turned away once and my daughter was turned away when she didn't have a DL to go with her guest ID. Both times we were close enough to get home and get back with the proper credential before our tee time.

Starter wasn't rude but was firm. I have no problem with the policy.

I have seen once, however, one of our group of 8 allowed to play on one of the execs way up north. It was late in the afternoon and the course was empty. Had DL with Villages address.

If you had followed TOTV and the Sun three or four years ago you would have seen the reason for this position by the starters. There was a problem with "ghost golfers". These were people who played two or three times a day. They signed up once with their own ID and then for additional times using neighbor's IDs who did not play golf.

I forgot my ID a couple weeks ago .The starter asked for my license and let me play.I was with my wife and she had her ID.I imagine the time of year might have had something to do with his leniency.

The good news is that the Starters seem to be enforcing the rules firmly but politely at golf courses. The bad news is that Starters don't work at pools or rec centers to enforce the rules there. Maybe we can get the Starters to give Community Watch and Recreation Center personnel some training.

I pretty much believe rules are rules and should be enforced fairly, equitably, politely, and across the board. Yes, there are bad rules. We should change those BUT enforce them until they are changed.

The time our neighbor forgot hers she said I bet I'll be able to play because her husband had his. They said no with an "I'm sorry". They sent off the group behind in our slot and we waited while she went home and got her ID.

Just as the poster said a while back some residents who were not golfers would make tee times and folks not residents would go and play. Now they check every ID.

It is better this way.

And that's the point. It happened to me once too; and I won't forget again (I hope).

One problem is, if they were lenient about it, IDs would be forgotten way more often, making accurate judgment calls way more difficult, making turning away the questionably IDless way more difficult and confrontational, making gaming the system-- if not non-Villagers access to free golf-- way easier!

I had thought the policy was to make the person pay as if they were a guest and then refund the money when they showed up with their ID. I guess I heard wrong. Good to know what the policy is. (Although I think paying along with some sort of photo ID like a driver's license and then a subsequent refund when the Villages ID is presented may be a bit friendlier and not really open to abuse.)

Is there such a thing as a fee for guests on the Executive Courses, or are these courses for resident ID's only?

My wife and I will be arriving next week and will have resident ID cards while we are in TV, and have two guests coming down to visit. Will they be able to play for a fee?

You will have to get your guests visitor ID cards which will allow them to use TV facilities, including playing golf (for a fee).
