I asked that too, before coming down! Helpful others advised "anything flat bottomed" will work. It does.
The only thing I have had trouble with is, when cooking on a gas cooktop, I have a tendency to grab the handle and "shake the pan" now and then as I am cooking. Don't do that on electric. I already scratched my glass cooktop. What a dope. I am not used to cooking "hands off", but other than that, I like electric better than I thought I would. Try to match the pan bottom to the size of the ring on the glass cooktop. My pans were all too big or too small. Last edited by Uptown Girl; 08-27-2011 at 09:16 PM. Reason: better grammar |

Thank You! Reason I asked...I have a Black Bosch Glass Cook Top and cooking with heavy cook ware. The bottom of my pans have left a mark on the cook top. I need to think of getting new lighter weight quality pots pans for the new stove in TV. Any suggestions on what I should buy???
PS The pots and pans I'm using now are "Calphalon" Last edited by Hummingbird; 08-28-2011 at 05:28 AM. Reason: adding text |

Yes, I have used the cleaner. It helped but I can see still a whitish ring ring :-( My cooktop is black so it shows up more than it would on a white cooktop.

Did you try a razor blade to clean it off? Just offering a suggestion in case it might be something on it instead of a scratch. I had to do that with ours, but it did come off.

I use most analon pans or farberware pans. The faberware are fairly light weight and match the size of the burners pretty well.

They ARE lighter in weight. I cooked with them at a friend's house. Easier to clean as well, inside and outside, but I don't know how they hold up over time. That's what I like about the traditional Calphalon. Indestructible. There are some other brands w/ceramic coatings out there too... I think I may try a pan or two. |

You haven't cooked in the last 25 years. I really don't want you to start now. Relax, we will have a great time in the Villages. They have plenty of restaurants down there. It's going to be just like home. We dust the cook top off once a week and look at each other and say I wonder if it still works. I could not even believe you posted on a cooking page. Next I'm going to be looking for you in the cooking section to see if you are trading recipes.

Cannot believe anyone would prefer an electric cook top over gas. Too many problems. Gas, just turn it on and set the exact flame you want and cook away. No worries about scratching and type of pans. I am beginning to believe a lot of the material in todays kitchens are made more for looks than functionality.
