Red face Enjoying Life

Hello Everyone, I am a SWF and I will be moving to TV in a couple of weeks as a snowbird. I am a little nervous, which isn't normally like me but this is a big step for me. I purchased my home in TV in April and returned to my home in N.E. PA without even spending a night in my new home. I recently returned for a short visit and purchased a few items for my Patio Villa and am now trying to decide what to bring with me. Love TV's garage and estate sales so not worried about setting up my home MY Way..... My dilemma is!!!
I have been single for quite some time and am used to making all the decisions for my life so I am surprised at where all this anxiety is coming from. Can anyone out there relate to what I am going through?
I can't wait to meet the people on this site....

Good Morning Kitty and other Newbie Singles.
My name is Pat and I recently moved into Gilchrist.
I moved here from the DC area but am originally from PA,

I am a widow with 3 grown sons and 2 adorable grand daughters.
I started out in Teaching, went to Social Work, then Historic Site Manager,
then HR.
I am interested in: Bridge, Mahjong, Dancing, Walking, Cooking and Dinner Parties, Foreign and Independent Films, and just about anything else that might be fun or a chance to meet others.

It's normal to feel anxiety when making a move from one state to another, as I did the same thing. The extra stress comes with having to make all the decisions by yourself and it can become overwhelming.

Generally, most people fear change. They rather stay in a situation that is uncomfortable than striking out in a new direction. Everything is so new like finding doctors, how to get around and where are all the places that you need services from.

Once you get comfortable in your situation, the anxiety will go away. Just give it some time. Most people say it takes six to nine months to start feeling good about the big move.

I could have written your post, and, in fact did. look for my previous post titled "moving and second guessing". I was in the middle of packing stuff and the stress of deciding what to bring, doing it all by myself, suddenly realizing the things I liked about where I used to live, were really getting to me. Like you, I've been alone for a long time so was quite taken aback by the emotions. Rest assured it's normal. Also, when you get here, there will be tons of decisions to make (i.e. buying a golf cart, what cable, phone, etc.) realize it all doesn't have to be done at the same time. I have a hard time reminding myself I don't have to do it all at once. Give yourself time to just relax after what will be a stressful time. Good luck. Look forward to meeting you.

I can totally relate. I purchased a cyv in sept. My home in NY is now sold and I will be moving to TV in 4 weeks. It feels like everything is moving along so fast. I never expected to sell my home so quickly. I am also making all decisions by myself since I am widowed. Its all so overwhelming but I am trying to be strong. Somehow I feel I am making the right decision to move to TV. Its scary but exciting. I hope to meet some of the folks on TOTV when I get there. I've been reading this site for quite a while and the people who post are so nice and helpful. Good luck to you.

To all of the new singles coming to TV you can rest assured we have all been thru the anxiety phase. The people of TV are very friendly and you will find you have great neighbors. There is so much to do here. I've been here less than 3 months and have been playing golf 3x a week with 2 different groups and joined 5 clubs and been invited to some others. The singles I have meet on this site are a great group of people. Its a small group although growing, but not intimidating as some of the larger groups might seem. Don't be affraid to contact us and ask for any help you might need. As someone mentioned earlier take your time with all of the decision making and be sure to take time for some of the fun stuff. It will come together and fall in place. Welcome and enjoy TV. Duckhunter-

Thank you to all who wrote encouraging words. I am here in TV, left my home in Northern PA and arrived at my TV home 22 hrs. later. Took me a bit to catch up on sleep after the long trip but am gradually settling in. I hope I have the opportunity to meet the singles in this group, I enjoy reading your posts, you all sound like a great group of people reaching out to make all of us newbies feel welcome. Thank you......

Hi Veronica:

I lived in Bridgeport Ct. What city did you live in?

The move can be daunting for a single person. I found that if I did a little bit at a time, such as declutterig and deciding what to throw out, or give away, the moved became much easier. You also must keep the end result in your mind. This place is beautiful as you will see when you get here.

You can do it and it's so worthwhile!!! This place is like a Disneyland for seniors.

Just gather some friends to help you and everything will be done. For a single, is a little bit more difficult but there is a tremendus support system of people that can be tapped into.

Hope to meet you one day round and about in TV.

Joe

BTW - Consider this post a badge of courage.

I started this thread just to network us with each other in the hope we can meet each other here safely in small groups, not in clubs, and without agendas.

Parties get a separate thread when someone wants to have one and so can any other meet idea, movies, go to the square, etc. Let's keep this meet and greet thread open for any and all networking and avoid constraining it.
Hugs,
Kitty

My name is Joe, and I am originally from Yonkers, N.Y. I lived in CT for 28 years before moving to TV. My carer was in electronics with working on computers. I have'nt fix anything for several years, so I know just enough to be dangerous. I moved to TV, that I had been looking forward to for several years. I also found it to somewhat overwhelming but if you don't think you have to do everything at once, you'll keep your sanity. There are a lot of things to do and decisions to be made. Just do one thing at a time and don't stress yourself out. Easier said, than done. I love TV and it's wonderful people.

Maybe, the next party will be at my house, but I have to get my new furniture. Hopefully this will be accomplished sometime in December. Looking at the calendar, it could be December 21st. Hopefully, people will be in T V as opposed to going back to their homestate to visit family, including me.

If my furniture arrives earler, then the date might get bumped up. Keep you posted.

Us singles, need to stick together and enjoy each other as it makes living in Tv so much more enjoyable.
