Default Inglourious Basterds?

Anyone seen this yet? I am thinking of waiting for this one on DVD as I might walk out of the movietheater if it is what I expect it is from the trailer. At least, with a DVD I can turn it off and go back to it if it ****es me off in some manner.

Tal,
You and me both. I really want to see this movie, but I need to know if any animals are hurt. I can deal with some of Quenton Tarrantino's (sp?)violence, but I abhor violence to animals and I understand the first scene begins in a barn!
I am anxious to see if anyone goes to see this film and what they honestly think. Thanks!

I also can no longer see animals being abused. I don't understand how it happened and I can still watch people get hurt. My brother couldn't see Dancing with Wolfes because of the animal being shot. I can only guess its something we grow into. Any thoughts? Herb

I was sitting on the square Sunday night accross from the Rialto when a woman walked over from the movie. She walked out after 15 minutes because of the violence and subject matter. Her husband stayed.

HEY.... it's Quinten Tarantino

Anybody else miss The Sands of Iwo Jima, The Lone Ranger, and the Landmark series of history books and bios for kids? Yes, the history was whitewashed, often to the point of lies. There was generally a clear line between good and evil, right and wrong. And in reality, those clear lines were often blurry if not nonexistent. Yeah, we have had our My Lais, too many of them. And Bat Masterson wasn't Gene Barry. But we had our Sgt Strykers.

Herb, You mentioned animals in pictures. Sometimes I wonder if something is wrong with me. I have no problem watching movies/shows where people are hurt, but if an animal is hurt/abused/killed I cannot take it. I shed more tears during Dancing With Wolves and the Tarzen film where the chimps were killed. Heck I even cried over the newest King Kong when he was attacked on the Empire State building. Everytime there is a family pet in a movie I worry the entire film that something is going to happen to it. To many I probably sound foolish, but this is the way I am and as the years go by I get worse. So if I know a head of time animals of any kind are hurt or killed in a movie I will not see it.

Default Saw Inglourious Basterds yesterday afternoon.

It is very violent but the violent parts are quite short interspersed with 20 + minutes of talking which seems to be common for movies by Tarantino.

Really more of a James Bond like flick than Saving Private Ryan or Schindler's List.

Some of the photography is gorgeous but the acting often seems way over the top. Maybe Tarintino was trying to lighten the mood with this over acting.

The villains seems to have the biggest parts, You really do not see all that much of the Basterds at work. The story seems to focus more around a Jewish woman and her plan of revenge against the main villain of this movie-- an SS officer called the Jew Hunter.

I saw it tonight with my wife. We both liked it. If you are not a Quentin Tarantino fan, you might not get some of it. Brad Pitt did a good job, as did most of the actors. All the elements of a good action film were there: mystery, intrigue, humor, intelligent dialogue, believability, etc. There is a fair amount of shock violence, but it is not gratuitous. There is just enough there to support the plot. I don't remember any violence toward animals.
If people walk out of this film, they must be prudes.

Seriously, this movie is one you can miss on many levels. Brad Pitt showed again that he cannot act. The villain was great in his role. It was an insulting, vial movie.

I asked for my money back.

we saw it tonight. I enjoyed it. It is much better than most of the other drivel that is out right now. But, there was a fair amount of bloody violence and if that is a turnoff, you had best stay home. (My wife informed me that I owe her 2 chick flicks for this one.)
