There's a "Wolfman Jack" show on the XM '60's channel (number 6). I don't know if it's him, re-runs or an imitator, but whatever it is it brings back memories!

Too bad I don't subscribe to XM. Should though since we live in BFE all the hills cancel any decent radio signals. Actually listen to everything across the band. When I'm alone it's loud rock'n stuff. Then when my wife is with me it gets toned down to Yanni, Enya, classical, and there's also a Sarah somebody.

I guess it's not him! Sounds like him though. Maybe reruns.

XM is available thru your computer on AOL, which is free now. Not sure if all the stations are there or not, but you can listen to some for sure.

Born in Bklyn, raised in Baltimore & Bowie, MD, back to Bklyn as a teenager. Now a Staten Islander.

Are the topic cops gonna get us? :cop:

I like rock too! (there, it's a legit post now)

My wife and I were talking about how the stuff from TV radio station was a little older than us, and how it wouldn't be but a few years and the Stones or the Dead would be played poolside and through town!

I'm not much for rock so I am one that enjoys the more mellow music of the 60's and 70's. I really enjoy barbershop quartet singing. For those of you who have not hear of www.live365.com internet radio, they have hundreds (they claim 10,000) radio stations. They have about every type of genre that you can imagine - including rock and roll. They have baroque, jazz, easy listening, acid rock, German, opera, Southeran Gospel, comedy, piano, etc. Check it out. It's FREE.

I like country night and oldies night on the square. Rap is crap as someone else posted. Not even music. I can take the swing era. Some good soft music. Elvis over the Beatles. Beachboys any day. A lot of Kingston trio and some Simon and Garfunkel. Neil Diamond and Johnny Mathis when I am in the mood. Tijuana Barass when I need background - like now. WCBS in NY on the way to work in NJ.

I come from NY and lived in the West Village back in the late 60s and early 70s and I LOVE THE MUSIC in the squares and on the Village radio station.

The stuff in the last 20 years has not even appeared to be music, just a lot of screaming; poorly chosen clothes and loud music to drum out the horrible "singing". :dontknow:

I see there hasn't been a post on this thread in several weeks. The only reason I'm writing now is that it's raining, I had VSN 99 on to see how long it would last, and the music was from the 40's. Then it got me thinking. Everywhere I go and everything I do seems to have the same old, very old music; ie. the 50's.

Now, there is nothing wrong with that music, but to play 50 year old music day in and out, at water aerobics, in the squares, on the radio, etc., etc., is too much!! Even when this music was popular there was still other genres of music equally popular, and that never gets played.

The entertainment people need to realize that a younger, hipper group is moving in and the music should begin to reflect that, at least occasionally. So, Kar Guy, you started this, what do you think? Is it time to start a Rock Music Club dedicated to getting more current rock music here? And that doesn't include ABBA & the BEEGEES!! Some thoughts people?
