Maybe I'm not looking at all of this right, don't mean to offend anyone, but I do have opinions like everyone else on here. Here goes...

It seems to me that the speeding issue comes down to what's happening in many areas of society today and it's the "me, me, me" attitude. Whatever I want to do no matter if there may be consequences to others. It's the same with the rude parking issues in the squares. Who cares if you get blocked in...you're where I want to park. My cart's nicer than yours so I deserve the whole space. And on and on it goes. Are there always bad consequences? Of course not, but sometimes they are bad. This place is supposed to be for everyone's enjoyment...not just a select few. It seems to be getting more and more the latter, unfortunately. I thought most of us came here to enjoy life and get away from the proverbial "rat race", not bring it along. As far as getting passed by faster carts....happens all the time to us. I don't really care because I don't have to be anywhere first. Go for it. I get there when I get there at my little 19.6.

If the speed is set to 25, then you will have those that have to go 30. Set it to 30 and they will have to go 35. The same thing happens on the highways and roads all the time. Speed limit is 35 - go 45+; speed limit 70 - go 80+; speed limit 85 - go 100, etc.

Why?

BTW, if you do have an accident with your golf cart on the paths, are you saying you don't think SCSO should be called since they don't have any jurisdiction on the paths anyway? How would that affect an insurance claim?

You can only be ticketed on public roads.
George,
You crack me up! Is that like beer on the golf course? Don't "drink and drive"

Wow! You get up earlier then me!

I can hardly drive when I don't drink imagine if I did drink and drive. I have a tee time later today and was thinking about using a designated driver!

I hope people know what we're talking about otherwise I'm in trouble!

Dilly,

You're right. People are people and this place is a mix of all types. People pass me and I pass people sometimes too. (my cart isn't modified) I'll only pass someone if it's safe and they are going less than say 15-16mph mostly just because it's easier to drive with the pedal to the metal. Yesterday I had an exception. I forgot about a 9:12 tee time and was very, very late. I passed someone who was going about 15mph on the trail and yelled as I passed "Sorry, I'm in a hurry". I got a dirty look and deserved it but as they say "poop happens". So no matter how nice of a guy I think I am while driving my cart I screwed up yesterday. The funny thing was that when I arrived at the clubhouse I was actually a day early cause my tee time was for today! I'll make up for it today by leaving early and letting someone pass me to balance out the world again.

Why would you get a dirty look? I would think that, just like in a car, it's perfectly fine to pass someone. No?

The speed limit is 20 MPG, go 20 MPH.

I've done it and everyone does it, but I have been told that it is illegal to cross the solid white line on the streets in order to pass someone.

I have seen a Sumter County deputy in a cart on the MM near Arnold Palmer. About a year ago. He was heading south.

On the way to the course this AM I came upon a golf cart going 11-12 MPH, I passed at 16-17 mph and saw the look on the driver's face that read "this guy is passing me overe 30 mph

On the way back home I came upon two more carts going 11-12mph. One driver just pulled over and let me go by at 16-17mph. However when I got the the next cart she just went truckin along until I found a clear flat and straight portion of the cart path to pass again 16-17 mph.

I could not see one car in my travels this AM that exceeded 19 mph
