This. I check my speed using gps speedometer. My cart can do 20 going downhill with a tailwind. Yet, daily, I come upon someone going slowly enough that I will pass them. I can only conclude that they are not doing 20 or 18. 15 mph or less. In 5 years here, I can honestly say that I have never come across any cart that I can guess was doing 30 mph. I suspect many more are underestimating their speed rather than thinking that carts are zooming past them.

If you are doing 15, then someone passing you at 22 looks exactly like you think you are doing 20 and someone is passing you at 27.

I like lawfully. You can get a book that explains how to do that. You can get one at the DMV.

Speak for yourself! Not long ago I tripped while walking and did perfect 10.0 face plant on the patio deck. Several cuts, a broken nose and two of best black eyes on my block. Oh, and blood. Lots of blood (head wounds bleed real good). I'd be stretching if I claimed more than 2 mph. 😪🤕🥴

Not against the law to go above what limit? There is no limit on the MMPs. It *is* against the law for a bicycle to exceed the speed limit on the roads. However, judging from the fact that I pass them in my cart, It has been my experience that the cyclists travel less than 20mph.

I had to jump out of the way of a bicyclist who stayed in the golf cart lane while I was crossing the street in the most direct route with my pooch in tow. The man must have been going 45 mph .

Our dog made it by inches with this jerk still in the golf cart lane with no other traffic around . I did gauge his speed wrong when he was approaching us. Now I just wait until nothing is close by as we cross the street even if some cars must be doing about 50 mph so I sometimes cannot see them around the curves.

There is one new law in Florida you forgot to mention. That is the law that specifies that if the leader of a group of bicyclists stops at a stop sign then a total of ten bikers can proceed through the intersection without stopping. You can see how this can eliminate each bicyclist having to stop and go which can antagonize some auto drivers who would have to wait and wait for each individual biker to stop and then start out at a slow speed through an intersection. There are other laws being considered such as allowing bicyclists to roll through intersections if all is clear. A number of states in the USA have passed such legislation. The quicker a bicyclist can get through roundabouts and intersections the safer it is for both bikers and motorists.
