The moral of this story -- Alway drive defensively as you never know what you will encounter
Good advice, and not just for TV.

Drive here long enough and you see some really strange sights on the roads and streets. Guy backing up in a roundabout so he could take the exit he just missed...some cowboy taking using the ditch as a passing lane on El Camino Real so he could pass a car in the right lane that apparently wasn't going fast enough for him...Guy in a golf cart going about 5 mph with a white blind cane strapped to the back...somebody using up FOUR parking spots at Publix...numerous instances of people blowing stop signs and red lights...

Moral of the story: know what is going on not only in front of you but in the back and on both sides at all times. Being right in TV is go guarantee of staying safe.

I might suggest speed bumps at the entrance to force those aggressive jerks to slow down instead of speeding up to see if they can intimidate the drivers coming around.
Another would be to put speed cameras that issue tickets to vehicles exceeding the suggested 20 mph.
What would you suggest?
👮*♂️👮*♀️👮
Unfortunately, violations of a "suggested" speed can't be enforced.

Talk about right of way, I and a police officer came to a 4 way stop at the same time. We both took off at the same time and the patrol officer hit her brakes. You guessed lt, I got pulled over and I told her I had the right of way because I was on the right. She said she never heard that before. Am I wrong? That’s the way I was taught and I’m 75. No ticket!

Way too easy to find...

Florida Statute 316.123(2)(b): At a four-way stop intersection, the driver of the first vehicle to stop at the intersection shall be the first to proceed. If two or more vehicles reach the four-way stop intersection at the same time, the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right.

Default Honking

Reminds me of the trip in a rented RV from Rome up to the Alps. Decided to tour Rome just before returning the RV. The apparent chaos actually gradually began to make some sense. Three lanes can be much more efficiently utilized if they're treated as being more like five. :-) Lots of the extra use was via motorbike. Maybe the most interesting aspect was the horn use. Got the distinct impression that a toot on a horn most likely meant "you go ahead". It was definitely "different".

The oddity that I never figured out was on the Italian version of the Autobahn , with me doing a dutifully relatively slow rate of speed in the right lane, each and every passing car - and some were *very* much faster - made it a point to pull into my right lane as closely as possible to my left front fender. What's up with that? Over all, upon returning the rented RV prior to hopping the cruise ship, I concluded that it had *not* been an adventure that I'd choose to repeat. Did not see any road signs in Switzerland written in English, making me give up on riding by the LHC. Did see that leaning tower of Galileo fame. Oh, and Switzerland has a *lot* of tunnels.

Not a fan of hearing the horns at the traffic circles. Fine if they help avoid a collision, but they can be discombobulating and confusing for others in the area that are not involved and can't tell whether they *should* know what the noise is about - especially when well aware there there's no shortage of idiots about who only *think* they have a valid reason for blowing it.

Would also opine that more threads on traffic circles is likely a *good* thing. They seem to always "out" several folks who have things exactly backwards. Possibly not the ideal means of education, but those folks were never going to "take the course", anyway. Wait. I guess the "course" is more about golf carts. Conflating things seems to have become my superpower. :-( Anyway, the video done by the local police officer on carts (I think) was most satisfactory, succinctly covering all the info that would be in the course. Dang. Can't locate that video. Anybody else?

2nd, a camera for going over the “suggested” 20mph? WHAT? You can take these roundabouts faster up to the speed limit. How about fining people that stop at each roundabout when no cars are coming? There is no stop sign at the roundabout. 99% of the roundabouts you can see if anybody is in the roundabout way before you get to it, so if nobody is coming, keep driving.
3rd, fining people that go 5mph thru the roundabout instead of the 20mph “suggested” limit?
Wish I had a buck for everytime we have seen a driver stop going into a roundabout without a car to be seen.

I haven't read the other roundabout postings so I maybe repeating a popular observation. I see a lot of drivers enter a roundabout in the left lane and make the first right exit. They don't care about or ignore the big green and white signs showing you how each lane works or the big arrows on the ground that show you how to use the lane you're in? The worst roundabout is on Meggison road heading towards Morse blvd from the south. It seems that half the drivers around me entering the roundabout in the left lane turn right onto Morse. If you're in the right lane continuing straight through on Meggison watch out! I'm not sure what the solution is? A bigger sign over the road that says "Don't turn right from the left lane"?

Probably should just go ahead and leave the horn on full time!
