Recently, I was driving north in the right lane on Buena Vista when I was slowing down to enter a roundabout. I saw a car in the left lane that had slowed down and had its left blinker on. I assumed they had just moved over to the left lane and had inadvertently left their left blinker on. But no, as I began to enter the roundabout I saw that car turn left into the roundabout. I honked my horn, hoping they would figure out something was wrong, but they continued going the wrong way around the roundabout. I didn’t hear any crash noise so they appeared to make it through. They did have out of state plates. You can do that maneuver in England and Australia, but not here in The Villages!

The moral of this story -- Alway drive defensively as you never know what you will encounter
That should be a no brainer.

Default crazy roundabouts due to outdoors' unknown how to follow.

very true due to many snowbirds and young drivers who do not live in TV. I had a minor accident there due to a young lady from Ocala (careless & not paying attention driver), then Sumter police did stop by, but did not make a report on it . So, I called Sumter Police (Sheriff) and finally made the police to write up a report showing she was at fault. Then her ins. co. will pay my truck s damage and car rental (will take auto body shop one month to finish my truck s work, ugh). Chas

WRONG!!! Left lane 3rd exit OR STRAIGHT only. Amazing how often someone wants to make a didactic post and is completely wrong. Well. I guess that's social media in a nutshell

2nd, a camera for going over the “suggested” 20mph? WHAT? You can take these roundabouts faster up to the speed limit. How about fining people that stop at each roundabout when no cars are coming? There is no stop sign at the roundabout. 99% of the roundabouts you can see if anybody is in the roundabout way before you get to it, so if nobody is coming, keep driving.
3rd, fining people that go 5mph thru the roundabout instead of the 20mph “suggested” limit?
Two thoughts.
1. can you take the RB at 35 mph safely and stay in your lane?
2. You may be able to see a vehicle in the RB as you approach, but can you guarantee that they won't turn in front of you as you try to enter?
Remember, the sign may not say "stop", but it does say "Yield"! That means the vehicle wanting to enter the RB does not have the right to enter until it is safe. Those in the RB don't have to make room for you. Sorry to let you know, but sometimes "yielding" means "wait" or "stop" if you have to. Merging safety is the responsibility of the vehicle wanting to enter.

So many people do not understand the concept of merging. So sad.

Your decision to come on. You can always get off at the next exit.

True! Make it a mandatory speed limit? Was hoping for ideas to make RBs safer. Not really looking for criticism of those ideas. Just wondered what people thought might help.

I find that a lot at 4 way stops or the ones who think the stop sign never applies to them or when a work vehicle is parked on the street and cars fly right thru into oncoming traffic.
