An it sure would add to the traffic from vacationer's and site seer's to the only place like it in the world.

I think when we see the same thing over and over again like a "Speed LIMIT" sign it tends to take on a different meaning.

With that being said, I break the law every day on the highway by driving in excess of 80 MPH and I do get irritated by slower drivers if they are in the fast lane. I just go around them and be on my way. If you can go around a slower vehicle on the highway, why not a golf cart or LSV in The Villages? And please don't point out that some roads in The Villages aren't 2 lanes. The original post in this thread pointed out that they do not drive their LSV on main roads without 2 lanes.

If you are in a car and a golf cart or LSV is slowing you down, just take the time to go around them safely. We are all supposed to be mature adults. There is no need for vigilantism or proving to someone else that you don't like a certain law. If you feel that strongly about the law, then go to the state legislature and try to get the law changed. FYI the law on LSVs or NEVs are across the country and are legislated on a state by state basis. Good luck.
Very well said.

We got all day and losing 2 1/2 minutes in your schedule will give you plenty of time to do all you intend to do today.

Your Dad was right! That about sums it up.

Maybe someone needs to make signs to put on the carts, such as: "Leisurely retired, please be nice" or
"What's your rush? You're retired".

Calm down folks, that comment was made in jest. I'm from NY, in fact I'm in NY right now. I just threw that out to lighten things up a bit. After I hit the submit button it occurred to me that some folks wouldn't know this.

As a former NY'er and lifelong highway commuter, I've been trained to drive both aggressively and defensively. The way to attain a balance is through common sense and courtesy toward others.

Sorry, I missed something. Which post was "inappropriate"? And, for that matter, what made it inappropriate? Thanks!

Okay, a monorail system might be somewhat of a stretch. But think off the traffic it would cut down, less gas and the lives it could possibly save. (How much is the loss of a human life worth?) People's biggest concern is the traffic when the build out is complete. Imagine 110,000 senior citizens riding around in golf carts with congested traffic. It will be like the Long Island Expressway in slow motion. Having a monorail system would cut back the traffic big time. Like I said, it is a stretch but considering what The Villages has become, nothing is impossible or unpractical.

Instead of a monorail system, trolley's would be a better idea. There are too many reasons why a monorail system wouldn't work. Sure, there may be 110,00 people that own here but they all won't be on the road at the same time. IMHO congestion won't be much different than it is now even when we're completely built out. There will always be accidents and discussions on this topic. Short of a Star trek type transporter, there is no viable solution but at least trolley's would offer some people options. However, you would still need to get to the monorail or trolly station and only to get to point A, B or C. What about all of the points in between i.e shopping?

One thing we must consider is that now a large percentage of the TV home owners are snowbirds. In ten years or so most of these snowbirds will become frogs. We will also be older and our reflexes won't be as good. In a perfect world we can say "Beam me up, Scotty" but this is not a perfect world and something will have to be done about the traffic and how to minimize it and keep the road safe.
