Make a citizens arrest--Book'em Dano!

About 1975 I was living in St. Petersburg and on 49th Street North there was a very popular night club called the Inferno. It was huge with crowds close to a 1,000 people and three dance floors and the walls were painted like flames. The staff wore shirts or vests with the devil face on the back. What made it even more unique was over every table hung a small lighted pentant that had a 3 digit number. On each table was a telephone and you could call the number of any table and talk to whoever answered.

You can probably figure out some of the things that could go wrong. One of the times I was there with a big group of people and at the next table was also a big group. During the evening I noticed the people at the other table had taken their telephone and put it in someone purse. I asked our waitress what would happen if someone took a phone in your section. She said it would cost her $100. I told her that at the next table they have taken their phone. She told the bouncers, and about 3 huge guys converged on that table. Apparently there was some sort of confrontation and I saw one of the guys from that table escorted to a room through a door in the flames that I didn't even know was there. The door was park ways open and I could see these guys getting a little rough with the fellow. Needless to say, we got up and left.

I worry more about credit card skimming. IMO this is bad when the low paid waiter take credit card to the station and come back with it. For your credit card to be hacked or skimmed someone has seen the information or handled it. Somebody stealing for the restaurants lease of my worries. IMO that's why cash is king until credit card system get updated to the 21 century. Had my credit card hacked twice, once at department store and once on Amazon. Luckily is was under 500 bucks and the credit card company made it right. IMO thief only going to get worse on both side of the fence. Till the credit card system fixed.

Why not everyone "mind my own business" as "someone" suggested? How about everyone cower down, grow chicken feathers and don't do anything when you see something wrong/illegal/dangerous happening. Just don't whine or cry foul when something happens that involves you or your family and no one comes to your aid. Geez, man (or woman) up.

Razorbackfan, I would ordinarily agree with you, and in most instances I would have confronted the individual or gone to management. What is key here is that I was not sure of what I thought I saw, and in absence of certainty, did not want to make an accusation without that proof. Because I was not at the table at which the alleged incident took place, it could have been my error. Had I been absolutely convinced there had been foul play, obviously I would have been obligated to do something about it.

All in all, we are on the same page and I agree with the spirit of what you are saying.

We were at one of the country clubs a couple years ago. We were seated but there was a line waiting with about a half hr or so wait. Guys came off the golf course and sat at a table that had just been cleared. The waiter said something to them and one of them handed the waiter a twenty, he took it and let them stay. We were upset but in that case " minded our own business". ( moob). I learned many years ago to pick my battles wisely.

I wasn't targeting your post on what you might have witnessed, I was targeting the statement of a certain person to "MMOB". I fully support a person making sure of what they witness before saying or doing anything, because of my Law Enforcement background; what I don't support is the "MMOB" mentality of people nowadays. Maybe if the families of people that are mentally ill would not mind their own business and speak up or do something, all these group killings would not be happening.

For sure if I wasn't sure what I saw, I would have mmob. I would not take the chance of being wrong and getting someone fired.

I was really concerned that some people wouldn't figure out I was making a REFERENCE about people that wanted to "mind their own business". I could have referenced people not calling in DUI's or people not saying anything about children or pets locked in hot vehicle's or people seeing a stranger in their neighborhood and not reporting it, all because "they wanted to mind their own business".

Several years ago I was at a fast food counter and the cashier kept giving things "free" on each order. When she did this for me I said, "I would rather pay". She replied that it was good karma. I replied that it was not her "karma" to give. If she would like to pay for my order, it would be fine.
