People dance in the pool and overall it's a fun afternoon. I have never seen a dog barking there and that should stop but it has nothing to do with the man who brings the music. Have never heard polka music played. If you don't like it on those days jump in your golf cart and go to Bonnybrook 3 blocks away or the Lynnhaven, and Churchill pools also very close. Don't complain about something many people enjoy on those 2 afternoons for a couple of hours! Go early or someplace else and sit in silence on Wednesday and Sunday. After reading all the posts the people responding are not getting a clear picture - no one is rowdy, it's not kids doing this and it's not a boom box. It's an older gentleman, a nice guy, and the people are seniors not rowdy younger ones. The dog should go if it's barking at people and I can't imagine whose dog that is as the gentleman that plays the music does not have a dog. The person that comes by to check ID's laughs and joins in on the fun of music - MUSIC - folks! Not POLKA music all kinds of music which supplies much happiness in life. You are misrepresenting this situation - Please go somewhere else on those afternoons and don't try and ruin it for others that enjoy this!
Who do I contact about scheduling a few hours on a couple days per week when my group can take over the pool playing MUSIC (Not POLKA music) that I like loud enough for all to hear? Is there a special sign that says, "Neighborhood pool reserved for those who like my music"?

I hate "well if you just followed the rules...." but even common sense would say that a regularly-scheduled event doesn't belong at the neighborhood pool. The pool is for the community, not for special groups, and the ones who should "go somewhere else" are those that feel they are entitled to inflict their music and pets on others.

Yeah but I don’t think that was the point. Some folks think they are “entitled” to break all rules and disrupt others. Moving to another venue does not solve the problem, it perpetuates it. One of the problems we have in our large cities: just look the other way and it will go away. “Don’t worry be happy”??? Attitude doesn’t work. I have nothing against having fun nor music nor dogs (I have one) but I can understand the rules. The intent is to create an environment suitable for ALL residents in COMMON areas for ALL to enjoy. I suggest that they have these parties at a more suitable location, maybe on one of the greens at the golf course. Surely no one would mind that

UPDATE: I have to temper this somewhat. Rules say no pets? I guess that would exclude a service dog. Riles say no glass around pool. No debate on that score. Cans and plastic ok - bottles not ok. Music?? Volume may be somewhat subjective. But if not blasting the neighborhood, why not. Original poster exaggerating??? Who knows. Maybe I’ll have to go over there on Wednesday

On the rec website it says people should use headphones as to not bother others. A recommendation, not a "don't play music" rule

diet coke drinking pool boy shows up at st peters gate asking for entry saying he's done good things.
St peter says only people who did great things may enter
pool boy says ive done great things. I sacrificed myself to get evidence that the polka people are partying at the pool
st peter asks how long ago was this?
Pool boy says it was 5 minutes ago.
St peter schedules a hearing with st john paul ii.
St peter mutters, why
didnt they use kielbasa
to lure them out?
St peter calls up 10 friends to join the party and they find the trinity is already there performing for the polka crowd

Ashland is within walking distance for us.
Very loud polka music? What fun! Would that be the Lawrence Welk kind of polka? The kind loved by Czechs? Bohemians? Bavarians? Poles? I wonder if this a group of people who have come from some European country and enjoy getting together at a pool weekly. I would be really offended if rap or heavy metal were being played at a pool, even quietly, but I’m okay with polka.

call or text or e-mail John Rohan, director of the recreation dept. He does not like it when villagers complain and he will get in touch with rec center manager that handles that pool. He will take action

The above statement is ABSOLUTELY correct. Don’t know the version depicted by the original complainant.

The pools are for all of us and people should not be fostering their taste of music on others.
