Couldn't agree more. And the worst offenders are those that do it intentionally, because THEY feel 30 is fast enough. (In their own words from another thread)

I would guess that more tickets are given during snowbird season. Reason most snowbirds are not registered to vote here and most tickets given in The Villages are issued by the sheriffs departments. Being a fulltime resident for 15 years this is what I have noticed.

Just my opinion and a heads up.

I see tickets given on Morse north of 466, Buena Vista, north of 466 and El Camino Real regularly.

Don't see radar cars out as much as in previous years on the north side. Lake and Sumter police/sheriff departments responsible. Have seen empty police cars parked in the grass beside a several roads for up to two weeks at a time...I don't know who they think they are kidding...it's easy to realize they are dummy cars with no occupant.

They do the same thing in UK and when every one is used to seeing the dummy car, the Old Bill stick the radar car in position, and have a field day catching speeders.

Need to get law enforcement out of the parking lots and on patrol. They seem to be more reactive than proactive.

Villages roads are public roads so you local sheriff department and Lady Lake police department. Just because there are gates doesn’t make the roads any different then any other road in FL.

Default Speeding

Sheriff Department runs radar on all the main roads regularly but some roads inside the gates are maintained as private property and they are not patrolled

As far as I know, it is only the roads in the villa areas that are not county owned, and those roads are hardly prone to speeding

Obviously not a priority (anymore).
Was never a priority. Police have better things to do than explain to people all day long that thy shouldnt speed. People should be monitoring themsellves and quit shoving every trivial issue onto the cops

Hardly prone to speeding? WRONG The posted speed limit in the all the villa areas I've been in is 10 MPH. Almost ALL cars and carts are speeding.

I'll defer to you since I've never driven in a villa area. That being said, 10 mph is ridiculous, my car idles faster than that. I wouldn't expect LEO's to monitor that, and I don't think going 13 in a 10 zone qualifies as "speeding", anymore than being 3 pounds overweight qualifies as "fat"

Agree with GE above that 10 mph is ridiculous. If I read correctly, the default speed limit in parking lots in Florida is 15 mph. Now maybe the driveways in the Villas are closer than spaces in parking lots or maybe there are more vehicles or maybe there are more people moving around, but I doubt it.

A great way to ensure speed limits are ignored are to set them unreasonably low.
