Thank you Jan!
I know the rats at our pool had been reported for over a month and once I posted on here, it was taken care of in a matter of days.!!! The gator in the pond was even faster!!!
How anyone can say my problems weren't solved by posting on this board, is another case of someone not knowing the facts.
I talked to the trapper. The sailors had been trying to get the gator removed and things just weren't happening. The trapper's exact quote was, "They don't want any bad publicity." (the power of TOTV) All the media in here is controlled. This is the only free forum.

This is a huge development, and noone knows what is going on in any area but their own neighborhood and where they spend their time.
Remember-I love it here!
I have very little time to post as I enjoy so many sports and clubs.

So Jan,

Thanks again for all the work you all put in to this board.

Not that she was an attacker but Barefoot said she used it for the 6 months she was here without a problem. So yes someone who used it did respond. I think the only thing I was questing was the headline. Were the conditions actually IGNORED or are they working on them behind the scenes? This is very important from my standpoint.

Believe me, as a potential newcomer, I always read when a 'veteran' TVer notes any concerns. It may serve as a cautionary red flag for the future of TV.

I don't know, Golferling, I understand there was a problem with the pool chairs but I have to admit I tuned out after reading your post. Maybe people will get on board if we state the issue differently. How about...

CHAIR PROBLEM AT THE BELVEDERE POOL

I enjoyed going to the beautiful Belvedere adult pool complex and visiting with many friendly people. But the crowd is much smaller now and it is because of the condition of the pool chairs and the fact they haven't been repaired or replaced so we can enjoy them again. Some of the chairs have been sent out to be rewoven but the problem has recurred. The chairs at he family pool in Belvedere were replaced but the problem continues at the Belvedere adult pool. We have spoken with the Rec Director and she states she is getting prices for new chairs. The process seems to be taking way too long and many of us have left this pool to swim at other pools because of this problem and we are not comfortable bringing a guest to the Belvedere pool in light of the shoddy appearance of the chairs. Does anyone have any ideas how we can jumpstart some action to replace these chairs NOW, it's been long enough! (End of new original post)

I think your gripe is a legitimate one, many people had a difficult time getting past the tone of the message. (I'm guilty.) Have you seen any progress in replacing the chairs at Belvedere? Have you contacted the main customer service number, the amenities division or CCD office as suggested in an earlier post? I am interested in the problem being resolved for the people who use that pool primarily, please let us know what is happening and let's get that pool "back up to snuff".

We live just around the corner from Belvedere Adult Pool. I don't go very often but my husband goes occasionally. He was there yesterday and said that about "half" the chairs were black but the others looked o.k. to him. Maybe they have been cleaning them? Also a notice at pool that it would be closing at noon for the next three days for "painting." Don't know what they will be doing. Husband did not think it looked like it needed to be painted. Guess "they" are trying to correct problems there.

Thank you for the update, please keep us current on the conditions there after the "maintenance project". I'm hoping for good news.

Excellent. Wonderful. We don't know whether it was TOTV or  planned maintainance or the tooth fairy. But SOMETHING is being done!

Feel free to post as much and as often as you like about it. It might make you feel better. But it won't get the problems solved. The writer who started this thread said that he/she "hope someone prints this out and sends it to John Rohan, or one of the developers, or the person head of the rec directors." Possibly, just possibly, had the poster sent the letter to Rohan or one of the others him/herself instead of posting here, (or in addition to posting here) they might have some satisfaction now.

Airing complaints on TOTV might be cathartic, but it doesn't get the problem solved.
My thoughts exactly when I read this post days ago about asking others to lodge a complaint on behalf of others. Go through the right channels yourself first.

If I remember right, the poster said she talked to someone and was told prices for replacement chairs was in the works. A reasonable amount of time for this to happen is certainly not unreasonable.

Is the pool itself in bad condition? If not, put a towel over the chairs in the meantime.
I agree with the poster, I like things pretty and perfect too, but referring to it as the "ghetto pool" is alittle extreme.

Good luck.

Sam, you and so many others on this site are why I joined the forum, so many excellent voices working toward the a great community in which to live. I believe TOTV has great visibility and we can't ignore a problem situation because, "our ox isn't being gored" or the post didn't strike the right cord. There are some voices, IMHO, that quickly jump approvingly on the band wagon if The Villages are panned in a post. I don't think this was the case here and I personally, would not like to pay my amenity fees so I could take an old towel and old swimsuit to the pool to relax on chairs in poor condition. The idea here is to have the issue resolved and the ambiance restored to the pool. Let's hope that is being achieved as we type and read!

I have been checking the Belvedere pool--haven't noticed any difference in anything--but of course we have been having rain amost every day. Went there today--a sign on the gate said "closed August 19-20--for painting." Will keep you informed.

We live in Belvedere, and when we're there (haven't been since mid-April) I swim at the Belvedere Pool every day that weather permits. Hadn't noticed a problem, but as I said, I haven't been there for three months. Will be back in a couple of weeks and will definitely check it out. Will someone please post what gets done following the August 19-20 closing? Thanks!

Actually, Sidney, the chairs were discolored when you were swimming in April in the Belvedere Pool. I know that for sure because I was swimming with you and Hyacinth in Feb and April! I noticed the chairs were discolored because someone mentioned it to me, but it didn't bother me at all. You just didn't notice the chairs because we were all just having way too much fun gabbing and swimming.

But I can see they are a definite problem for some, and I'll bet that replacement is being planned for sometime this year. I know they were a write-in topic in the Spring Satisfaction Survey. And I've been told that survey comments are usually taken seriously.
