Livsea, I'm sorry you see it as a love it or leave it mentality. We all know everything is not perfect in TV. I had so many warranty issues in my current home that it was amazing, My first home in Mallory was great. I think some of us get upset when someone is consistently negative about all things concerning TV. TV, like the USA, is not perfect. Many things could change for the better. I just don't want to live anywhere else. TV, USA...what a great place to live.
On the other hand, we all need to point out things that need to be repaired or changed. If no one points out the flaws, no one will fix things. I think the "negative police" are called to arms when people complain about everything and are consistently unhappy. IMHO So, I hope everyone loves TV but also hope they will point out things that require change.

THANK YOU Talk Host ...... you have expressed the utmost common sense; if only everybody would abide by that behavior what a perfect forum this would be, FOR EVERYONE -- almost as perfect as TV
![]() And to the Negative Post Police :cop: I say: Relax. Sometimes a person just needs to vent his/her frustration (like the OP) and like the choo-choo-train noise problem. Sometimes the public attention might illicit a remedy to the situation; maybe there is no solution to the problem but an occasional vent/rant seem appropriate for this forum as long as there is no personal attack involved. Sorry, I just couldn't resist throwing in my two-cents-worth of comment ![]()

I guess I've been fortunate in getting immediate action from TV whenever a problem occurred. As an example, there were fire ant hills on the golf course in back of our Villa. When I personally contacted the appropriate golf course director, the problem was remedied within 24 hours. Of course, getting chairs replaced is a much more complicated issue and takes more time. Overall, I'm just extremely impressed that TV heats all pools to 83 degrees all winter long!

We have had no complaints. Also, this is our second "new construction" home. I can't say enough about the care and efficiency of the builder and other contractors in taking care of any little thing we requested. Back in Illinois, things were taken care of "eventually." We loved our home there, but the followup left much to be desired. I can't say enough about our builder and the developer here. I'm simply a big fan.
As for the "love it or leave it" mentality. I think it's rare, but there are a two or three posters that seem to never, ever be pleased. And I've often wondered why they do stay? I think it's just natural human curiosity. I've said as much to a friend who might complain constantly about their marriage. Why do you stay in it? I, personally, cannot understand any person that wants to wallow in unhappiness. Possibly low self-esteem? :dontknow: So, consequently after many, many negatives posts about TV, I might say "love it or leave it" or "Why do you stay?" Yes, I am guilty as charged because it baffles me. Nothing personal, just curious.

I agree that constant negative posters are typically negative people. I tend to stay clear of grouchy, constant complainers. Ghetto?? Attacked?? OMG Silly isn't the word, Russ!! Complainers think everyone and everything is against them. I love the Villages and am thankful for the attention given to minor problems. Call the right people, and problems are looked into. Disagreeing=attacking?? Stains=Ghetto?? COME ON!! Another example of the great way things are handled. The girl that reads the water meter recognized a leak. She was replacing the cover that my neighbor had reported being broken. The leak was in the PVC pipe leading to my house. The water dept. is not responsible for PVC pipe going to the house. I called the supervisor and told her how I thought MAYBE the pipe was cracked due to a broken lid. NEXT DAY-FIXED!! No arguments, just fixed it!! BRAVO water dept.. Up north, I would have had to catch the leak on my own. I would call the proper people and the red tape and time to git 'er done up north, forgedaboudit!! I would not even bother to try and get help. KUDOS to water dept. for prompt curtious service.

How many of you "attackers" because something said was negative have ever BEEN to the Belvedere Pool??? Yea...I thought so. ...not.
Next time you have a family member or guest, make sure you do. It will give them a new impression of The Villages. See...I love it here. I want things to be nice, and continue to be nice. I want visitors to like it.Too. You people that attack anything negative...get a life. I want my pool to be just as good and nice as any of them in The Villages. I didn't "name" the Belvedere pool the GHETTO POOL....I just told you that was what it was called. If this is a forum, then it needs to address issues. They don't all have to be about world peace. Lighten up and address the issue, rather than attack it. Another words, grow up and find a solution rather than attack. Don't kill the messenger. |

Now listen. I know you are upset, but my sainted mother said you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. Of course you want your pool to look nice. But do you really think that the chairs won't be replaced? I would assume that would happen. How long have they been like that? I will call tomorrow and complain for you. I know that most people aren't mean hearted here. We all have to learn to say things a little more .................kindly and gently.

We are not attackers! We can't fix your problem! Go through the proper procedures and people to get it done. I didn't complain about my broken water pipe here, I called the proper people and got it fixed! Response to several personal inquiries have so far been favorable. I don't think a rec director is the person to contact??!! Not an attack, just my opinion.

Awhile ago there were posts regarding why some don't post. I think this thread is an example why some don't. I feel that concerns/feelings should be acknowledged(not necessarily agreed with). It would then be positive for replys to give suggestions/directions or sources . Everyone benefits when useful advice is given.
Of course debating issues is a great function of forums and should not be reduced to mocking or attacks. Posters need to feel safe from ridicule, or bashing. I agree with the Tallk Host that individuals should post their concerns. |

Of course, anyone has a right to voice their complaints about any shortcoming of the TV in this forum, whether the complaints be real or imagined. However, posting complaints about problem in here will not get them fixed. Got a gator in your pool, rats in your attic, drunk bums sleeping at your postal center? Feel free to post as much and as often as you like about it. It might make you feel better. But it won't get the problems solved. The writer who started this thread said that he/she "hope someone prints this out and sends it to John Rohan, or one of the developers, or the person head of the rec directors." Possibly, just possibly, had the poster sent the letter to Rohan or one of the others him/herself instead of posting here, (or in addition to posting here) they might have some satisfaction now.
Airing complaints on TOTV might be cathartic, but it doesn't get the problem solved.

I agree, Jan. Sometimes you can go thru all the proper channels and not see any action, then a public airing of a complaint can bring resolution. And it isn't just the Belvedere pool either. We live in Mallory, and my daughter-in-law was visiting last winter. She started going to one of the new pools, and I asked her why - she said the Mallory pool was kind of dirty - the concrete was dirty and needed to be washed; the restrooms were dirty. Maybe this was a one time thing - it was a busy time of the year when she was there. Or maybe they just don't have a good cleaning crew. Its something I don't notice because as a resident I was there all the time, but seeing it as an outsider gave me a different perspective. I hope its in better shape by now, but if not I will be contacting somebody in the Rec Dept. to voice a complaint and if that doesn't work, I will bring it up in a public forum. That's just being smart, if you want to see improvement.
