Because not everyone what’s to listen to other peoples conversations. I have had a few meals at good restaurants ruined by people yakking on their phones thinking everyone else in the restaurant is just dying to hear what they have to say. It is rude and obnoxious. Maybe, they should have a designated area for cell phone use at the pools and no phones in the pools.

A pool and a restaurant are two different things. I walk by Everglades Rec Center every day (almost) and the noice of people chatting from the pool is quite loud even out on the walking trail.

Maybe we should have a designated area for people that want to be quiet, and away from other people. Yeah, lets ban sensitive people .

Do you know what you are allowed to do? Write a letter longhand while driving. Completely legal. I would argue just as dangerous, if not more. --Daniel Tosh

Default If you think about it, the complaint is clear.

Nobody minds an occasional phone call to someone at the pool but when they yack forever, often loudly, on their device it becomes annoying. Not all but a number of our neighbors think they own the place and don't have the common courtesy to live respectfully with others.

Default Doesn't bother me

It doesn't bother me when people are using their phones or taking pictures. They are excited to be in such a beautiful area. People can get a private pool if they don't want to hear others.

Yep. Nothing ruins a meal more than listening about Aunt Edna's goiter or Grandpa's piles!

I'm surprised that so many people would take their phones into the actual pool. It seems that would be an accident waiting to happen.

But, no, cellphones shouldn't be banned in the pool areas. A community pool is not the place to expect perfect peace and quiet.

Texting and talking on hand held cell phones in cars is banned in almost every state.

Hmm, then don't listen? The pools are NOT quiet places for meditation - but if you want to meditate I guess you can, and if someone else wants to laugh and play and speak loudly and excited, well, they can do that.

Why, oh why, in a society with a bazillion laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc., would we ever want to restrict even more freedoms? If they are not risking people's safety or enjoyment (like loud stereos, etc.), then why stop them. If it just because YOU don't like it, well then, you know what people will say to that. You are free to use another pool, go somewhere else, build a private one, etc.

We already have that. We call it "their own homes."
