Just wondering how many new home owners in the Villages
are experiencing issues with their Whirlpool Appliances? Our home is less that 5 months old our microwave died It has approximately 10 minutes use on it. I called the home warranty department figuring they would just come out remove it and install a new one. I was wrong and told it was up to me to call Whirlpool. I must say they were very nice and 2 days later a service tech showed up. Not to make along story he has returned 2 times and it's still not operational waiting for parts. One more thing be sure to register your appliances with the manufacturer the villages does not register them up installation . I thought it would be automatically done as part of the home building process. Only found out not so when I had an issue. |

Surprised it was not cheaper for them to just swap it out? Maybe another call to whirlpool.
The Villages left GE and went with Whirlpool because of performance and warranty. Thanks for the update I figured our appliances were registered by the builder. Opps! Herv |

We closed in Feb. 11, microwave died once in May, called warranty dept, told to go thru Whirlpool, after about 4 visits from Fields Appliance, the microwave worked until Oct. and died again, had to go thru Whirlpool again, this time, we insisted we wanted a new microwave. The only thing, they could replace us with at that time, was a Kitchenaid. the Kitchenaid has worked fine, but we had to wait about two weeks to get it in and installed.
Our Ice Maker has also had to be replaced. I had to call warranty dept., they were completely out of the loop, as far as any warranty on this microwave, had no idea it had been replaced, unless I had called. |

When we did our walk thru with the builder before closing, he told us very emphatically to be sure and register the Whirlpool appliances. Also, if you call the 800 number, you get a 2 yer warranty instead of the standard 1 year. It is supposed to be done within 30 days of purchase, I think. I don't know how this would affect those of you that close by e-mail/fax/UPS/FEDEX, or however you do it without actually being here.

When I became a Villager back in 2001, they gave me a hard-covered binder called "The Path to Becoming a Villager". In the section labeled Appliances, the first thing it says to do is to register your warranties with the manufacturer by completing and mailing the warranty cards immediately.
In my case I went to the web site and registered all of the appliances. If they do not give out the book anymore it is too bad. The book has a wealth of information in it for the new home owner. Z

Sounds like these appliances are junk. Might be better to put in another brand right from the start. I wish TV gave you an appliance credit so we could pick a better brand.

The Villages left GE because Whirlpool outbid them when the contract came up for renewal, and as an added incentive, included a nice signing bonus.Had nothing to do with performance and everything to do with..................MONEY!

I agree that TV changed to Whirlpool - that's a fact. The rest of the sentence is purely speculation.

We have not moved in yet but found out who the appliances came from and just upgraded to stainless steel and higher end whirlpool. They switched it out and credit you and deliver! That is one solution and you choose what you want

We re-modeled our home in NY 4 years ago and put in GE Profile top line in the entire home.
Four compresser failures and one ice maker on the Fridge. The last compressor being three days before we closed and $400 later the new owner was happy. The dishwasher pump failed twice and second time leaked water ,there by ruining the new hardwood floors in the kitchen- TILE in the new home. Washer motor failed Dryer motor Failed I have been told that nothing is good anymore. Two reasons. Off shore China and new EPA energy requirements make the compressors and motors energy efficient but at the same time built so marginal they fail. I think it would be wise for us to buy the extended warranty. I did at Lowes on our new MayTags. Made in America so I bought them but who knows where the parts come from. |

I would not put GE anything in my home. Not so sure about Whirlpool. I'm skeptical.....We usually put top quality appliances in. But with the way TV does it I guess we have to go with their brands. Not sure if purchasing "top of the line" in their model will help or if we will just waste our money. Something tells me to have them install the cheapest everything and then take them out and put what we want in.

Since buying our CYV last March we have had problems with our whirlpool dryer, washing machine twice and our refrigerator twice. I am definitely very unhappy with these appliances. It almost seems like they are seconds.
