Bats in your attic!
So something you might give some thought to. I’ve just discovered (!) that bats have been making a home in my attic. No I didn’t hear them. I called Massey, my pest control service, and they sent out not one, but two specialists. I am now having my attic sealed in such a way that when the last bat flies out there is a trap door that prevents them from re-entering. Massey suggested that I inform my neighbors, because once the bats can no longer enter my house they start to look for other homes. And in Florida bats are protected in the summer! Natalie Scott, with Massey, gave me her direct number 228-341-1918, suggesting that I contact my neighbors and recommend they contact her or their pest control company. So, let me emphasize, I am not benefiting from any of the above.

You’re very lucky that they were confined to your attic. Almost certain rabies testing if you had to tackle one in the living space. Great for the environment but not so good for human interaction

Probably through squirrel hole? Or piece of flashing separated? In my area bats nest and roost in CYV cement walls where they join.

It’s easy to tell if you have a problem. At dusk a homeowner can see them exit usually at corners where the soffit and roof meet. It will happen like clockwork. Neighbors DO need to be aware. The next easiest spot for them to enter and roost will be taken up as their new home.

I hope there no pups if so might be illegal to eliminate them till they’re gone?
Like other mammals, mother bats feed their pups breastmilk, not insects. Most bats give birth to a single pup! |
