As stated before, I welcome any evidence that shopping in supermarkets is less risky than softball, pickleball, golf etc

There is less risk of catching this virus then getting hit in a roundabout

There's dumb and dumber everywhere. A woman in a supermarket pulled her mask down to sneeze into her hands while standing next to me.

I'm afraid the inappropriate use of and sense of false security using masks and gloves is at best a wash reducing risk when applied to the general population.

Don't know if I would go that far, anybody know how many roundabout accidents happen per year?

I think people are missing the big picture here. Forget about whether supermarkets are safer than outdoor sports. (they aren't, opposite is true)

The virus is not stopped by lockdowns, they just slow it down. The virus will continue in waves for maybe 2 years until herd immunity is achieved, or a 100% effective vaccine is produced, which may be never. Prepared to shelter in place that long?

If we don't get the economy up and rolling soon, the entire world and all its governments will go bankrupt, and your SS checks, pensions etc will go bye bye. money would cease to have any value. Maybe you survive if you have a farm with animals to milk and eat, vegetable garden, and your own well.

I don't even have a mask, that's why I don't go inside any buildings.

The curve has been flattened, which was the reason for the "stay at home" order. Seems logical the order should be lifted and businesses allowed to open and people allowed to play.

Again, the stay at home order was to flatten the curve, NOT attempt to eliminate the virus - can't be done.

Do you have paper towels, printer paper, tissues, rubber bands and stapler? You can make a mask which will protect people around you.

Here is a video of how to make this super easy, no sew mask.......

True story. But it's also been shown a mask Can be less effective during a cough or sneeze due to the blowby anyway.

Yes I know about the homemade masks. They won't do much to protect you from virus particles. If I had to go inside a building other than home, the only thing acceptable for me would be N95. Since I don't have any, I just avoid indoor spaces with other people in them.

The supermarket thread here is amazing, they are arguing about one way lanes, people without masks etc while oblivious to the fact that they are engaging in behavior far more risky than a game of softball played outdoors.

Yes you can play outside, come home when the dinner bell rings, or street lights come on. If numbers don’t rise there will be many disappointed.

Conversation typically goes like this:

Go outsider: I want to play softball, pickleball, golf, swimming etc

Stay at homer: Noooooooo!!!! You'll kill us all!!!

Go outsider: How so? You don't have to play if you don't want to.

Stay at homer: Your dangerous activity will infect me when I go to Publix!!!

Go outsider: You are much more likely to get infected inside a supermarket than I am on a softball field.

Stay at homer: You'll have blood on your hands!!!

And so on...

Stay at homers should be advised that there are only two ways to reduce risk to zero.

Achieve worldwide herd immunity (could take 1.5 to 2 years) or produce 8 billion shots of 100% effective vaccine. (not likely based on medical history)

Risk of contagion drops dramatically when you are outside. In a study of : Three hundred and eighteen outbreaks with three or more cases were identified, involving 1245 confirmed cases in 120 prefectural cities. We divided the venues in which the outbreaks occurred into six categories: homes, transport, food, entertainment, shopping, and miscellaneous. We identified only a single outbreak in an outdoor environment, which involved two cases.

Conclusions: All identified outbreaks of three or more cases occurred in an indoor environment, which confirms that sharing indoor space is a major SARS-CoV-2 infection risk

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...058v1.full.pdf

The FDA has never approved a vaccine for humans that is effective against any member of the coronavirus family, which includes SARS, MERS, and several that cause the common cold

Will There Be a Coronavirus Vaccine? Maybe Not
OMG ! A Great Post from someone that isnt afraid of their own shadow . of one of others .. Folks, if your idea of living life to its' fullest is to quarnatine yourself in your home for life, go for it .. Please don;t rain on the parade of those that choose to fraternize, exercise and enjoy their silver and golden years without living in fear.
