Default Be careful using “For sale” signs

According to the other online news source/site, anyone who parks a car, golf or any other vehicle on District-owned property with a “For Sale” or “For Rent” on it will receive a warning and then more action by the District if the owner doesn’t comply by removing the sign.

This must be a stricter enforcement of an existing rule because I saw many of these signs on vehicles this past winter season. So, be warned and use another method to get your message to the public.

Let's get the word out and maybe suggest TOV classifieds.

"Section 7.10 of the VCCDD Rule states,

No person may leave, stand or park any motor vehicle, golf cart or merchandise on any District owned public property, including any street, parking lot, alley, or easement, or upon any public place, including vacant land, shopping center parking lots or any other similar area for the purpose of displaying such motor vehicle, golf cart or merchandise for rent or sale without the approval of the District Manager."

I think the District will get the word out.

A BIG thank you to the District for this enforcement. I'm sick of looking at the signs.

I don't think you can see them from Ohio.

I really don't see the big deal of having a For Sale sign in your golf cart, and I'm not talking about someone taking their cart to one of the town squares and leaving it all day or all night to try and sell it. Im talking about someone who is actually dining, shopping, listening to music, etc. In addition, what's the difference between a For Sale sign in a cart, or a cart plastered with vinyl graphics advertising home services, golf cart lettering, bug screens, etc?

"District Owned" property does not include being parked at the squares on the streets. Those are all public streets. Yes, the parking lots are developer owned.

Personally, I see no problem with letting someone put a For Sale or For Rent sign on their cart. It does look better than having a large sign on your car advertising a business and driving it around and parking it in your driveway.

I also don't understand how the District can enforce such a rule if one is parked on a public street. If I am correct, the bonds we all pay, paid to construct the infrastructure of TV's which I would assume, includes our roadways. I personally don't find it a problem to go to the squares in a cart that is for sale and have a sign in it. I assume the District just doesn't want it to get out of hand and therefore are trying to implement this rule.

Looking at a for sale sign on a golf cart upsets you? You're pretty sensitive.

Political signs on golf carts are still allowed. If only my wife and I could agree on which presidential candidate to promote.

More likely the developer owns or has more than a landlord's interest in the golf cart sales businesses in the squares. I think a new law was just passed that allows the developer more authority in this matter. Who hasn't placed a for sale sign in their car window some time in their life, other than those raised in Ohio to know better?

My guess is that the developer does not want the parking lots used as used car lots, looking tacky, littered with vehicles left there with for sale signs on them taking up parking spaces needed by those shopping, going to their dentist or whatever.

It seems to me it is a good idea to enforce such a rule.

It never fails - everyday someone on this site amazes me with their ignorance on how things work here. They didn't do their homework before buying. Now they complain about the way things are done, want to change this and that, and use the wrong terms all the time. (New law allows the District not the Developer) You must be too new to remember going to a Square and not getting a parking spot because 15-20 carts are all parked next to each other with 4 sale signs. Looked just GREAT! One evening behind Panara's I talked to a man who lived outside the Villages. He was unloading 2 carts from a trailer. He was bringing them to the square with 4 sale signs. He did it on market nights (more people and less parking because of the vendors)

Ever see a car or cart parked at a Postal Station with a 4 sale sign? People leave them all day and half the night. Taking a parking spot all day... that's GREAT! Screw my neighbors, I'm more important. Just ask me, I'll tell you.

We don't get to pick which rules we follow.... be a good neighbor and resident.... follow them all.

Yeah, who cares. This is America. I'd put a sign on my cart if I was selling and it would be HUGE!

I don't recall the golf cart for sale sign rule when I moved here 2 years ago? Where did you see it?
